AND THE HEATER COMES ON FULL BLAST!!!! There is definitely something going on in that scrambled electric analog "brain" in the dash. It responds strangely to electrical transients in the system... I'm glad that Mercedes doesn't build airplanes... (or do they???? ) :) I don't know if I should just go in and do a full EMI/RF analysis and redesign the stuff with tighter hysteresis and better filtering or just buy a newer heater/ac control unit... :) The circuitry in both the cruise control and climate control is not very sophisticated... simple really... If I just replaced all their components with tighter tolerance parts it might help... And added some tranzorbs and filters on the power connections... Man, no wonder my buddy with the 86 300E has to have his radio security system reset so often... :) Time... all it takes is time... To save time and use the reman or new parts I'm wondering if it'll really fix the problem... Anyone replaced theirs with favorable results???? john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html jesus, don't leave life without him, please! Doesn't do it if I just start out normal, or haven't decelerated hard before. Doesn't smoke that I've noticed other times. Compression is tight, plenty of power, starts and stops right up... :) Anyways, got a quote from GP Automotive, $425. Anybody done it before? I can borrow a tool to insert in the glowplug hole to pressurize the cylinder with my air compressor so I can remove the valve springs and clips and replace the seals without having to pull the head.... Estimate of time is about 6 hrs... :) john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html jesus, don't leave life without him, please!
