Then we got into the real vacuum trouble - no shut off, high revving jerky shifts. Took him to the dealer, they replaced the vacuum shut-off valve on the FI pump and some tubing. They also said they found a clogged vacuum tube. The bill was $90,-, the result: NO slipping at ALL anymore! :-)) Man, is this car smooth... I was told before to just accept the slipping, because 'Benzes of this age just act that way'. Yeah right... So, I guess maybe they do know what they are doing at the dealer... At least sometimes :) Pieter '83 300TD (Hermann) - -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: john Aan: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Datum: zondag 30 mei 1999 7:25 Onderwerp: shifting into third >I think a few of us mentioned the slipping into third >syndrome... The California ARB site has lots of good data. It's becoming apparent that the Diesel may produce more NOx and particulates than a gas engine, but I have yet to find out how much more. What is significant is that with a clean fuel the Diesel engine will definetly be a better source of motivation than a gas engine. :) The recent breakthroughs with synthethic Diesel fuel may bring the diehard Diesel back to the forefront of automotive technology. :) The following are several of the links I followed that are interesting. john http://arbis.arb.ca.gov/html/ALL.htm http://arbis.arb.ca.gov/noxdoc/noxdoc.pdf http://www.epa.gov/OMSWWW/05-autos.htm http://www.epa.gov:80/nceawww1/pdfs/dsch2.pdf http://www.epa.gov/oms/fuels.htm#other http://www.epa.gov/oms/regs/fuels/ http://www.cs.ruu.nl/wais/html/na-bng/rec.autos.tech.html http://www.eia.doe.gov/neic/quickstats.html http://arbis.arb.ca.gov/toxics/diesel/diesellinks.htm http://arbis.arb.ca.gov/toxics/DieselTAC/dieselfs.pdf http://arbis.arb.ca.gov/noxdoc/noxdoc.htm http://www.epa.gov/oms/regs/fuels/diesel/ http://www.epa.gov/oms/regs/fuels/diesel/diesladd.txt - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john 77 Wagoneer (SJ) - 81 MB 300D (123) - 88 wagoneer (xj) jesus, don't leave life without him, please!
