I've mistakenly replaced my window mechanism, turned out to be a bad switch in the console... :( Nonetheless, survived the grueling procedure, twice... :) You'll have to take the door panel off and see if the side rails are still in place. There is only one mount on the bottom of the window that raises/lowers the glass. Sounds like one of the rails worked loose and is allowing the window to flop about like a fish out of water...
