SOUNDS GOOD IN THEORY, BUT IN PRATICE TEND TO FALL SHORT; I'D BE CONCERNED W/THE ABILITY OF THE MATERIAL TO ADHERE TO A SOURFACE WHILE ALSO BEING SUBJECTED TO BLASTS OF EXHAUST EVERY TIME A CYLINDER FIRED. ALSO, THE EXPANSION RATE WOULD NEED TO BE SIMILAR TO THe METAL TO KEEP EXPANSION/CONTRACTION CYCLES FROM BREAKING/CRACKING THE PATCH OFF. NOW, IF YOU CAN WORK A SUBSTRATE OF SOMETHING LIKE WIRE MESH AND CAN WRAp lAYERS AROUND IT (LIke AN Ace bANDAge) YOU'D BE MUCH BETTER OFF; USED A similAR KIND OF PAtch for the area where my downpipe sepARAted from the flex section (bAD WELD OR SOMETHING). So it CAN WORK IF YOUR PERSISTENT, DERTERMINED AND Are cheAP ENOUGH TO NOT GIVE UP :-) Tony Wirtel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1999 21:33:13 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: PYRO PUTTY AND THE LIKE At 11:31 PM 6/19/99 +0000, Tony Wirtel wrote: >JOHN SAID... >> They say it's a new ceramic-metallic sealant and metal >> repair compound that resists temperatures to 2000 deg. I'm wondering if I can get some local or if I have to call or mail this outfit... I've got a crack in the header of my 88 xj 4.0L jeep engine... just making an occassional ticking sound... I figure this stuff might just work... save me a lot of hassle. :) john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-virtual-cafe.com http://www.wagoneers.com http://www.virtual-cafe.com/~john 77 Wagoneer (SJ) - 81 MB 300D (123) - 88 wagoneer (xj) jesus, don't leave life without him, please!
