P.S. how do I lube the door hinges on a 123? Evan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 08:44:07 -0400 From: "Matthew J. Mason" Subject: door lube, (was Re: engine #'s and stuff) Evan -- I've used lithium grease on the retainer arm that governs how far the door will open (the one that retracts into the recessed area in the body pillar when the door is closed), and additionally I've actually removed the retainer-clip-and-vertical pin combination (governs alignment of the door) and coated the pin with lithium before reinstalling. Tricky though, b/c you need a friend to help you realign the doors so they close properly (and those suckers are heavy, if you're left standing there holding them up for a while). Also, this was all done as part of a process which involved removing the doors entirely anyway, so you might find an easier way. good luck -- mjm ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #159 *********************************
