I may be heading down to Portland to pick up some FSJ parts (77 Wagoneer). :) I may also be scoring some Blazer tickets or something along those lines, just bought 2 new HP C3000 workstations from the sales rep down in Clackamas. :) (not for me, for work... :) One good thing about Portland, especially in SE/NE is there are lots of good through roads both north and south... you're not limited to the Banfield or 205... 82d, 122d or division and powell... always an option, unlike Seattle... Anyways... are there any Benz yards down your way??? I just bought a window regulator and motor from Aurora Auto Wrecking will come via UPS on monday... Have dealt with Benz friends in the past... john At 12:24 AM 8/6/99 PDT, Daniel A Jacobs wrote: >Clackamas isn't bad, just make sure you don't buy next to a run down >nieghborhood. All kinds of neat refinements on this new engine, including a spring-loaded damper on the throttle assembly (to smooth out the little jolts and jerks in accelerating), and a newer (non-threaded) primer pump design... Needless to say, we're having a ball up here... - -- mjm ______________________________________________ Matthew J. A great big, hootin', hollerin', Texas-sized THANK YOU to George Murphy and the resourceful members of these lists! My 85 300DT has been without air conditioning for a while now (big surprise). What's worse, the blower motor died, so I couldn't even create a breeze in the car during traffic. Being the cheap schmuck I am (just ask my wife;-) ), I kept putting off repairs. For the virtually risk-free price of well under twenty bucks (compared to two hundred-ish for a new blower motor), I figured I'd get the replacement blower motor brushes from George, pick up a Radio Shack soldering iron, and learn how to fix this thing. I finally got around to it this weekend. After fighting for a few hours trying to figure out how to get the blower motor out of its plastic housing (Oh, you mean it really just pulls right out?!), I installed the new brushes, did a hack job of soldering the new wires to the old ones (I guess that's why they make solder flux. The solder didn't really flow into the splice too well.), and screwed that puppy back into the car. I HAVE AIR MOVING AROUND IN MY CAR AGAIN! It ain't cold (yet), but it's a darned sight better than just using the windows and trying to avoid clogged traffic. Next up: with the help of a kind and generous soul from the lists, replace the A/C compressor and recharge the system. What will I do with all that cold air? ;-) Just another satisfied customer, Alec Cordova Taylor, Texas 85 300DT, <200K, disintegrating clear coat, some worn suspension parts, and a useless A/C compressor that's about to be replaced, but I love her anyway! 97 Z3 1.9, 67K, wife's car; good paint, great suspension, working A/C, but I love her (my wife) anyway! ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #185 *********************************
