I'll have Saturday from about 10 to 2 open, wife is going to the Dahlia festival in Canby... :) Will probably have the little wagoneer, if I bring the trailer... otherwise I'll bring Fritz... Either way, I'll only be a few miles south of Portland... Whit, should I bring my trailer? I can scare up the a/c parts and bring 'em down either way. I'm interested in the tranny/xfr cases, unless you have someone that needs 'em. Also should grab any sheet metal that's good... just in case. :) They're getting rare and it seems like I keep falling into mid 70's rigs... :) I'll be looking for 80 and up SJ axles, I think I'm horsetrading into a 64 J200 down in Boise... Gonna get Jim's 84 GW frame... have 4.0L/AW and NP231... shoot, if they quit making what I like I'll make my own. :) After I build my own short wheelbase/ short box J10 the next step is to turbo charge Fritz... :) The only rig I'm happy with is the little wagoneer, the only thing he needs is bigger nerf bars, and maybe an ARB... :) BTW, I'm gonna go to the AMSOIL warehouse Friday to pickup some ATF and oil... if anyone down in Portland needs something let me know, will save you some money... :) Non-list related (see link below): - ----------------- anybody in Chicago grab one of these covers? Could ya scan it in or point me to a link where it is scanned? I only know the 617 series. I like simplicity, longevity, parts availiability. Speed is not desirable to me. Any comments on this car versus a 116 chassis or 123 chassis 300 turbo? Also, does anybody have a complete history of the 617 line? I'm starting my quest for a 300D or SD and I'm not afraid of pulling and rebuilding an engine if it needs to be done a year or two down the road. But I'm wondering what parts like pistons, rings, bearings, cam chain, etc cost. Haven't found any prices on line. Can anyone help? It will be more powerful, will run smoother and have a better milage than the old engine, but it will be much more difficult to repair. The new engine has electrnic motor managment and all the stuff you will find in a modern engine and this means that you need the modern tools and know how to repair it. If you are thinking of doing all the work on your own, you should prefer the older engine, it is basicly not more than some iron rotating somehow. But if you give the car to a shop anyway you can also take the newer car with its better milage and smoother driving.
