So I will ask them anyway. Has anyone made experiences with alternative refrigerants? My 81 200D W123 is charged with R12 but has a small leak somewhere. So in a while I will have to refill the system. R134a is less efficient than R12, the blends containing R134a are said to build acids that will destroy the system after some time and will cause trouble with the old ac oil that can not be completely removed from the system. I am thinking of EnviroSafe or similar, so has anyone done a conversion to this refrigerant? To do this job, can anyone name the tools I need and an approximated price? Thanks for your help, bye, Thorsten ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 14:32:53 +0100 From: Thorsten Windhues Subject: Re: W123-617 tach installation OK, now I am very confused... You want to fit a (let's call it) "rev-counter" from a W123 gasoline to a W123 diesel? Next day service to my door, and it does fit the 912 engine nicely. There is a kit available at any parts store stateside and JC Whitney that has this kit. It includes the oil charge, three cans of r134a and a hose doohickey to fill the system... :) all for less than fifty dollars US. john On Fri, 17 Dec 1999, Thorsten Windhues wrote: >-->Hi out there, >--> >-->now these questions are not so much diesel related, but you are the only >-->contact I have to people in the US. Has anybody ever encountered a 617 that came without nozzle plates under the injectors? Tonight I did, I assume it is some form of Stupid Previous Owner Trick. I have remedied it and anxiously await to find out any ill effects (I have not run the engine yet). SDB P.S. I don't suppose anybody wants a perfectly good exhaust manifold from a 617.910 (W115 chassis). Yours for the cost of shipping and a beer. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Dec 1999 18:14:37 +0100 From: "Pieter Noorlander" Subject: Re: W123-617 tach installation Not necessarily from a gasoline - I do not have a donor yet.
