It's a piece of cake to do the brake caliper replacement. 14mm and 11mm wrench 18 or 19mm socket, 2 bolts, and it's off... get a one man brake bleeder... on the master cylinder, bench bleed it and it'd be a snap... you could practically do the job with mittens on... :) I can work up a quote on parts if you need, I've got a good wholesale source now, rebuilt calipers loaded with pads even, for less than what I can buy at jobber pricing from the dealer! let me know, john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please! I just wasted an hour chasing down another radiator hose because the one I got at Schucks wasn't the right size, didn't have an internal spring and was so soft it would have collapsed if the temperature changed outside! Went down to NAPA and got the right size, internal spring and a nice solid feel to it... And even though I was buying "commercial/jobber" in both places, NAPA was less expensive too... Schucks, Al's, PepBoys and all the other chain parts stores typically sell junk... I'm pretty fed up with the high prices for parts that are supposed to be "discounted" because I'm buying for a shop and then getting inferior parts on top of that.. Schucks just bought Al's and they both stink. And from what I've seen of the stuff in Pep Boys, it's the same junk. It ain't no bargain if you have to replace it in less time than OEM. I need to plan these repair jobs out a bit more so I can get the stuff from my wholesalers instead of doing it on the spur of the moment... getting off my soapbox now, john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please! The trim pieces on the right rear door have been trying to escape since I've owned Fritz... after I rubbed him against the basketball pole in the driveway the parts have pretty much decided they want to ride in the trunk now... So... I need to know the best way of reattaching them... (short of like really buying the correct clips... I mean, that takes all the fun out of it... and requires a trip to Seattle... :) I'm thinking about using JB weld or a silicon material to attach the lower panel and the door guard... Or should I just go and get the correct hardware? :) You know... I was thinking about all the projects I've got going on and was even thinking about putting a Turbo Diesel in Fritz if the tranny or engine ever broke... but the non-turbo setup is quite simple... and I'm not as likely to get in trouble with it. :) With three rigs, all old, and all high mileage... scaling back on projects is a pretty good idea. :) Fritz only needs to have his trim pieces reapplied and he's back to full health... (filters could probably stand to be changed...) Hey, there was ice on Fritz this morning, and he started right up... no block heater, #2 fuel, amsoil 15w40 synthetic in the crankcase... didn't even think about the fact that he's a Diesel... Not bad for an 81 with only 143,000 miles on it... I need to emissions test my 83 J10 Stepside tomorrow... I may take it down to Seattle to get the trim pieces to fix Fritz correctly instead of using adhesives... :) later, john - ----------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com 81 300D (123) / 88 wagoneer ltd (xj) / 83 J10 stepside (SJ) http://wagoneers.com/john/JEEP/Vehicle-History.html http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html Snohomish, WA, where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Dec 1999 10:16:16 -0800 From: john Subject: list info We can not send HTML, stylized text or attachments to this list... please send plain text only... the question about the 126 will need to be resubmitted... it bounced.
