Even in Germany they are very rare, the cars offered were in most cases used as taxis and are in a very poor condition. Still they are sold for twice as much as a "normal" W123 in a very good condition. I don't know how many of these long wheel based W123 were exported to the US, but you might have most chances in Germany. I can't get them at wholesale prices, they cost what they cost... maybe rusty can get a better deal on them... rusty? john On Tue, 4 Jan 2000, Richard Welty wrote: >-->i sent this already, but it seems to have vanished: >--> >-->i was just badly disappointed by the haynes book on the 123 diesels. >--> >-->the car needs new lower ball joints; i was very suprised to see that there >-->was no discussion of their replacement in the book we just bought. >--> >-->anyone have any pointers, tips, hints, and can anyone tell me what special >-->tools i might need (i have a generic pickle fork, but my recollection is >-->that the 123 doesn't work in the conventional manner.) >--> >-->richard >--> >--> >--> ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com **** http://wagoneers.com don't leave life without Jesus, please... I've got a set of 4 new studded snows on factory steel rims sitting under the house for my 81 300D that I will probably never use again... first off, it snows like two maybe three times a year here... and even if it does, why would I take my Benz out when I have three Jeeps here? I used 'em for about 3 months before I got my Michelin's. Anyone up in the Pacific NorthWest interested? I'll even give thought to delivering them if it's not too terribly far away. I haven't driven fritz for over a week... I like my "new" pickup and once I get it dialed in for economy I'll continue driving it. It's supposed to get 19mpg in town... it has a few problems from the PO's. I'm making progress... first tank: 9mpg, second tank: 13.3 mpg. At this rate, in a few more tanks I'll be able to afford it. :) Anyone interested in Fritz? He's a beautiful rig... I guess I'd better get the collector car insurance on him... at the rate I'm going I doubt I'll put 3,000 miles on him in a year... anyways, the tires are here and in great shape... need the money more than I need the tires... (Need a locker for my 83 J10 Stepside..., well, need is a relative term... :) I'm even willing to through in the lug nuts for the steel wheels and the factory hubcabs, painted white of course... john (snohomish, washington, about 26 miles northeast of seattle...) it would probably cost about $100 to ups them...) Not sure what to ask, will have to check on rim costs, I paid $250 for the tires alone... I'll need one alloy rim with a tire for a spare, my original spare rim had a bad rim and I chucked it... have one of the studded tires in the trunk as a spare... - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please!
