Anyone ever had an Earl Scheib paint job? http://www.earlscheib.com/Default.asp They're having a sale until Feb 5... $199.95 for their regularly priced $499 paint job... I'd like to have my J10 Stepside painted and anything will be an improvement. :) Even if I went out with rattle cans and sprayed it... I had Maaco paint the parts for the little wagoneer when I totalled it, they did nice work, I wouldn't think of having them do my Mercedes, but a Jeep truck... :) Any thoughts, ideas or real major beefs? Still trying to decide on a color. Dark Driftwood is right up there... along with White, and Black... :) My wife didn't like the idea of Yellow. But then again, she doesn't like the idea of the J10 anyway... She finally rode in it tonight. She thinks I should sell it and get another Cherokee (like the little wagoneer). :) I like my Full Size Jeep... I'll get it all dialed in, cleaned up and riding good and enjoy it... And figure for family stuff and trips that I'll be in the little wagoneer... oh well... :) john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please! What is a "Ronin"? I don't turn tv on very often, rarely read a paper, and haven't been to the movie house for a while... ;) I do occasionally rent a video... :) I can provide a list of movies that have Full Size Jeeps in them, if you're interested... ;) john At 05:53 PM 1/21/00 -0600, matthew j mason wrote: > > >I'm reminded of Robert Loggia in David Lynch's "Lost Highway" -- behind >the wheel of a mid-80's 12(6?) body MB, maybe a 300SEL or something: > >"This is where mechanical excellence, and 450 horsepower, pays >off." Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... - ----------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2000 23:44:59 -0800 From: john Subject: post Benz status... :) Well, it's almost been a week since I've experienced a Diesel Benz. I've driven my XJ and my FSJ... And, the winner is... my FSJ. :) I'm growing very fond of my 83 J10 Stepside. I miss Fritz, but the stepside if helping me get over it. :) I made the right decision. It was a tough one, and self imposed. I guess no one was forcing me to sell, in fact, many were discouraging me from selling Fritz. Like my entire family. :) I just felt that insuring a nice rig like that and not using it often enough was just not a good use of money. The new owner of Fritz is starting to get into the Diesel Benz mode. We talked tonight and he's definetly getting hooked... the ride, the technology, the supreme engineering! (the front springs on a 123 chassis are taller than a lifted XJ's!!!! I loved the reaction Phil had when he looked at 'em. :) BTW, I also talked with the PO of the Stepside today, she said that it was the heaviest duty version of that transmission that was installed. She gave the name of the in South Seattle that built it for Town & Country Jeep, Ericksen or something like that... So I'm somewhat confident that it is a World Class T-5. I'll try and follow up on the details... There is a temptation to attach a 300D Turbo Diesel to that T-5. :) There is something very cool about a 5 speed transmission. Can't really explain it. But I'm really happy with the setup. Now I just need to get the Holley TBI installed, get it painted, get the Powertrax No-slip installed, and figure out some rainproof storage for the bed... And in other XJ news, I've found my daughter a nice 90 xj 4.0L cherokee pioneer and hopefully she'll like it and ditch the buick. A good friend of mine from church is selling cars in Lynnwood and told me about it, it's on special for $3988!!! 144,000 miles, has a few minor issues, but basically pretty solid, will test it out tomorrow or sunday. :) Now, would that be cool or what? A pair of FSJs and a pair of XJs. :) Father/son FSJs, mother/daughter xj's. :) The problem is that "mother's" xj will blow all our doors off and go any where it's pointed... :) well, almost... :) While waiting for the ferry to Kingston I saw a very nice later model 300 TE Wagon... Too bad they didn't import the 300TD 4matic... now that would be a challenge to my yet to be named Stepside... :) Talk about a coincidence, on the way back from Kingston today I saw my old 67 Wagoneer, my first FSJ!!! The one I was in FourWheeler Garage scenes with in the January 1992 issue! The one I installed a Buick V6 into, the one with the Volvo seats... and the Mercedes radiator fan, and VW parts, and Ford, and Chevy and... :) http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/fests/Kingston-Jan21-2000/johnsOLD-67wag-kingston.jpg later, john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please!
