Visit the following site http://hsb.baylor.edu/html/easley/autofaqs/main.htm and print out all you can on the topic, and take this along with you to your trusted MB service locale. If it's your B-2 piston, you will be saved a trans rebuild. Good luck. If these trannies are anything like most american cars (not likely), then the 2nd clutch pack is shared with reverse (this may only apply to ford c4's where I heard this). Did you try to manually row the transmission down to first? I believe that if you put the tranny all the way down when stopped and then return it to drive it'll start in first. A friend in reno showed me this trick on his gas powered 300E. Otherwise it sounds like that clutch pack is gone... I dunno for sure, I'm not terribly proficient in automatics on benz's... john At 01:45 AM 3/9/00 -0800, Jason Zolghadr wrote: > >Please dont let it be the trans.. >88 420SEL, 179k. Hey, fellow listers, ya want to help us out a bit? This Grand Wagoneer looks beautiful... We have two questions... well, WE have one, and I have one... the issue is, RUST??? my question is, does it have a sunroof? If it does I may actually talk to the wife about it... She misses Old Blue... (she hates Superdawg... (I don't....) :) I've blind copied everyone... I'll make sure the info gets back to the FSJ list... thanx, john - ----------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com ...don't leave life without Jesus, please! Hello, is there anyone from Montana on this list? Things look like I will work there during the next winter and I am thinking of shipping my 200D '81 to the US for that time. I would like to know how cold it gets during the winter and if a block heater or an auxiliary heating of some kind is necessary to start the car. Thanks, Thorsten ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 09:20:08 -0800 From: john Subject: Re: Anyone from Montana on this list? I'm not from Montana, but I've lived in subzero weather in Illinois and South Dakota... Late December through mid February you can expect temps to drop to as low as -40 or -50 degrees F. Average winter temps will be in the 10 to 25 degree range... There are some folks on the FSJ list in Montana if you'd like me to forward this there. I'd recommend a block heater, a battery heater, synthethic oil and Diesel Fuel Treatment (you'll also be using #1 fuel there). john At 10:22 AM 3/10/00 +0100, Thorsten Windhues wrote: >Hello, > >is there anyone from Montana on this list?
