BTW, I got fuel last week in Vancouver WA for 1.599, just across the Columbia River from Portland. This is outrageous for here seeing that it was only 1.299 in January I believe. If you're using something other than Diesel #2 out of a pump, I highly recommend an additional set of filters... My wabbit died quite suddenly because of a clogged fuel filter... because I'd been using the old french fry oil... ;) Filter your non-standard stuff and you'll be fine. I'd recommend at least a 50% "normal" solution so any additives and cleaners they've been putting in will still be there. The only issue, besides filtration, that you need to be concerned about is the lubricity of the fuel... so you don't prematurely wear out your injectors or pump. I have heard of a couple of women that drove a Chevy van with a 6.2L Diesel coast to coast using the waste fat and grease from restuarants... no side effects were reported... They used no additives or regular diesel fuel that was reported... john At 11:11 AM 3/17/00 -0800, MarkFountain wrote: >Just saw a Texaco station down the street here in East Portland OR with diesel for >1.999 a gallon, 10 c more a gallon than their premium. So a duck is only a duck when you embrace his world view, otherwise, it's just a bunch of funny looking parts. ==================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2000 18:03:00 -0800 From: john Subject: Re: sunroof issues At 08:54 PM 3/17/00 -0500, Chris Straut wrote: >John - saw that you mentioned that you had problems with the sunroof in >your benz. Fritz was doing 22 to 26 mpg... Superdawg should be able to do 19/20 in town and theoretically 24 on the highway... my best so far is a pathetic 14mpg... The PO put a Clifford intake and a big gas-sucking Holley carb... the tail pipes are black... It does have plenty of git up and go though... The little wagoneer is getting around 17 to 18mpg... I've got the data, just haven't done the math recently... I called on a $200 80 Vw wabbit diesel... needs body work... My question will go something like this... will I get wet if I drive it in it's current condition? if it's no, the next question will be, check or cash? ;) My guess it's long gone. I called on an 85 Jetta for $1800 and it was history... I was trying to talk my wife into selling the little wagoneer for a nice 300SD. :) (the kids, both taller than me) didn't like the 300D because they didn't fit so well...) If I find a nice one I think I could make the case... The little wagoneer is getting tired... 199,290 miles on the original engine/trans/xfr case... I've lifted it, locked it, installed an Aussie Bull bar and so on... But I haven't wheeled it in over a year and we had one dusting of snow this year... There is no way I'm getting rid of my 83 J10 Stepside... I'll convert it to Fuel Injection or Diesel before I get rid of it... So, if I can find a nice clean 300SD Turbo Diesel for about what I can sell my little wagoneer for... ;) I've only got a 14 mile commute one way past the Dairy farms... my top speed is about 35mph... so either way, I'm not too concerned. Let's see, 2 gallons a day... ;0 john - ----------------------------------------------------------- john-at-wagoneers.com http://www.wagoneers.com 67 J3000 (SJ) / 88 wagoneer ltd (xj) / 83 J10 stepside (SJ) http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html http://www.wagoneers.com/book-info.html Snohomish, WA, where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... - ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #292 *********************************
