I found one for my '83 300SD, it's the S1118, special order, not sure if it's still available, but it's retail price is $38.95, haven't had time to call AMSOIL to find out if it's still there... I love that 15w40 marine grade synthetic... use it in my lawnmower even to help prevent oxidation as it sits outside all the time. :) If you have a way of measuring oil into quarts it's cheaper to buy the 2.5 gallon jugs too... This was even when I went to a Jiffy-Lube kind of place. Suggest you check with Rusty, (zac3-at-bellsouth.net, or 1-800-741-5252). You're bound to need some other odds and ends, and he can ship them all together. Need new air/fuel filters? I'm sure mine need to be replaced, as I have never done it and they look rather old and hard (and flat). Does anyone know of someone I can email, or call, to buy what I need. Preferably someone who can drop them in an envelope and not charge me $10 to ship it. It is a major pain for me to get to a dealer here. An alternation would be to know of the size needed so I can get them at the local parts place? Since I didn't want to drop the pan right now, I decided to go to Wal-Mart and see what they had. (My wife works there and I get a discount! ;) I got some Quaker State Dextron III fluid because it specifically listed MB in the list of manufacturers it was rated for. When I get more time, I'll drop the pan and try the Amsoil. Jim/ Steve Bohannon wrote: > Jim, > > I use the Amsoil all the way around in my '85 300SD. I just got back from a mini-vacation... will try to call tomorrow, but not sure if I'll have time... you're welcome to call 1-800-956-5695 (customer# 283461) and check, I checked the current catalog, it is the S1118 filter, latest price list still shows it at $38.85. It's too late to call today. My network was down hard at work when I left Wednesday afternoon and I'm cutting my vacation short to get back and dive back in... :( Going to O'Reilly's Perl University on Mon/Tues... so it's looking like the earliest I can call and order for myself might be Wednesday... :) I did confirm the part number/price... :) >-----Original Message----- >From: john [mailto:john-at-virtual-cafe.com] >Sent: Wednesday, September 27, 2000 9:54 AM >To: Steve Bohannon >Cc: Jim Hoffman; diesel-benz-at-digest.net >Subject: Re: Trans fluid > > >what hooked me in 1983 was the lifetime air filters...
