I only replaced the two behind where the linkage had to be loosened. If the guy that looked at it tonight decides to buy it I may just give him the parts. What gets me is that I probably didn't need to replace the controller unit. I had no idea MB glow plugs worked like that. :) So, anyone need a good deal on a glow plug controller module, used of course... if it shouldn't work I'll refund your money. :) Or, if it stops raining long enough I could swap it in and see if it works, if it does then I can sell it with confidence. Same thing with that plug module for the tach. Oh well... live and learn. :) Troubleshooting by the shotgun method can be expensive... should've maybe like read the shop manual... ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2000 14:10:10 From: "Mike Mehringer" Subject: RE: Headlights and Rims I see. Having migrated to 240-Ds from a fleet of Volksie rabbit diesels in the '81 - 84' year range, cross- compatibility is a MAJOR issue with me. If any of y'all would educate me about what year ranges have the closest compatibility and what the specific non-compatibility issues are, I will truly appreciate it. I have now acquired a '79 240-D for $400. and an '80 for $4800!. I have already located a couple of wrecked but repairable 240-Ds which I believe to be about '82s or so. It will take a little bit of effort to make the swap. You might find that more than just part numbers changed and you'll be required to fabricate brackets, linkages or mounts. Here's why. In 1975 the W115 body style ended. In 1976 the 123 chassis started... :) I doubt that the issues would prevent a determined engine swapper from making it happen though... but it won't be something you can just drop off at a shop and say fix it... they'll fix it alright... but if you don't give them a list of what it is and what's different you might not like what will happen. :) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2000 21:41:20 -0800 From: john Subject: a note from the listmom just got this notice from a computer related email list: > Holiday Spam Can Cripple E-Mail Services > Spam-induced e-mail system failures -- like the one that left 200,000 > Verizon Online customers without e-mail for three days last week -- are > more likely to occur during the holidays due to seasonal increases in > e-mail marketing, experts > say. http://www.internetwk.com/story/INW20001130S0003 quick note: we're doing everything we can to fight spam. richard blocks it through filters.
