They were helpful from start to finish. I had questions on my dual tank setup and they had solid answers. The kit came complete with excellent instructions, pictures even! Quality parts. If you're considering a TBI kit they've got 'em for just about every engine you can think of, including all the carb'd AMC motors! I've played with a Holley TBI kit before, not even close as far as instructions and installation, not to mention the silliness to get the Holley setup. I'll be mailing it back tomorrow, got it all packaged up and ready to go. Trying to sell my '83 300SD so I can get my shop built so I can do the swap of whatever engine I end up with. :) Came up with a great idea for my shop, may start tomorrow even. :) If you hear of a complete 91 and up 4.0L engine/aisin warner with harness and computers, let me know. :) I thought I'd pass along the URL's for Howell, great customer service and a great product! http://www.howell-efi.com/ http://www.howell-efi.com/tbikits.html later, john meister Snohomish, Washington - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 20:11:03 -0800 From: john Subject: surging? bad fuel? my 300SD seems to surge... but not all the time. I vaguely recall a problem like this on another Diesel and it had something to do with the fuel return line or adjustment. The new injectors may require some sort of pump adjustment maybe??? Or is it bad fuel??? It's running strong, but occassionaly surges... drives me nuts... It's like bad fuel or something... Turns out my filter had clogged again, it was dirty... I must have gotten some bad Diesel... have to remember where I bought my last tank... :) The ad shows up in the paper Sunday... hope to figure it out before someone comes to look at it... I don't need another project... :( john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 14:50:25 -0800 From: john Subject: honest ebay ad. :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=533935934&r=0&t=0 I was looking at the list of things needed on this 300SD... hmmm, sure sounds familiar. :) The thing that caught my eye was the tachometer... after replacing the pickup unit and plug in module under the hood, mine still doesn't work... that leaves the tach unit in the cluster, right? Maybe I should email the guy on ebay and let him know that the 2-3 shift thing is called flaring. :) Thankfully my 300SD doesn't have that. Since I changed the injectors though I have noticed that you have to pull your foot off the accelerator to get it to shift... I must have done something to the vacuum system... I let my son drive the benz to work... it's a beautiful car and with SuperDawg (my '83 J10) needing an engine and having a leaking sunroof, I may just decide to take the Benz in and have the engine surging thing fixed... :( Of course I just took out one of those guaranteed ads in the Seattle paper... two weeks, no sell, repeat ad, repeat until sold... later, john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #463 *********************************
