If you've ever had whiplash you know how bad it can be... I can't understand why people don't go to Chiropractors when something like this happens... I've seen people suffer for months when they could have been relieved within a few weeks or less. anyway... still got to work out the claim with the insurance companies... the wife isn't eager for me to have multiple parts rigs laying around... so I may just yank the parts I want to keep and let 'em have the rest... don't know yet... I really want to keep these axles with the TADs... too bad the lift kit was damaged... :( too many projects going on right now, didn't need this... I had no plans on retiring the little wagoneer... it was our primary vehicle... they gave us a stinky escort to drive... it's like riding a skateboard! I want my Jeep back... I can't tow my trailer with the Benz (I won't is what I should say. ;)... thanx again for the email... I won't have time to respond to everyone individually... john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 May 2001 00:12:29 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: Euro lights At 03:32 PM 5/3/01 -0700, chris-at-califormula.com wrote: >Where are you getting them? >I need some for my W123... >Chris in Sandy Eggo... used from some guy that sold his 300SD... he kept them hoping they'd work on his audi, they didn't. ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 May 2001 00:18:58 -0700 From: john Subject: go Matt! :) nice writeup... hope you get more than what you were looking for! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=585757095 john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 May 2001 12:39:02 -0400 (EDT) From: Chris Straut Subject: Re: Euro lights Try mercedesshop.com - my pair came to around $380 brand new. I think the other guy's insurance is going to be more to my liking. I have a rough idea of value on my Jeep, if the offer is close I'll work with them. If they're way out of line I'll be looking for a lawyer. We didn't create this mess and I'll not let us have to drive something less than what we had because of it either. I'm not looking for a lottery winning, I'm looking to have my wife treated and my very nice Jeep replaced... The other guy's insurance is providing a comparable SUV rental now. Which is a 2000 Blazer right now... Amazing how poorly it handles compared to my LIFTED '88 Jeep XJ... Driving the back roads home as I always do there is one very bad stretch, my Benz, my J10 and my little wagoneer took the worst of it with full control and composure, this Piece of Chevy felt like the tires had left the pavement and it was throwing me around like I was on a trampoline!!! Not all vehicles are created the same. I'm spoiled by driving Jeeps and Mercedes. :) By monday the rental outfit will be providing us a Jeep GRAND CHEROKEE!! :) Too bad we only get to drive it until the settlement is made... :( BTW, the wife is doing great, getting her to the chiropractor as quickly as we did helped immensely! Thanx all for the kind words. She's out there in my Benz. I'm hoping she'll decide she doesn't want to try the GC... ;) later, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux **** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://junkscience.com ** http://snopes.com ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA ...don't leave life without Jesus, please... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 May 2001 10:07:13 -0700 From: john Subject: the aftermath... parts galore! Ok, I'm sitting here with dozens of projects already... My wife is doing great, but the little wagoneer sits here with a small fortune in aftermarket parts... What do I do??? Do I swap stock parts back on and let them haul it away after I get a fair price? Do I buy it back and fix it so it's driveable and sell it? (I have the '67 Panel for hard core wheeling and no place to park all these extra vehicles... the wife is already asking when the '96 xj will leave... (she's very tolerant of my projects, I'm very blessed to have such a wonderful wife, but I also need to do everything I can to keep her happy, and happy is not having a bunch of vehicles sitting around... ;) Do I buy it back and part it and strip it and scrap it? Are there enough parts on this thing to make it worth my while??? Is anyone interested in the Dana30/35 with 4.10's, True Trac/Trac lock??? ( If so make me an offer and plan on swapping the axles from the '96 under the little wagoneer so it's rollable... I think the bill for the bearings, ring & pinion and TADs came to over $2k... Of course I don't expect that much and the d35 may be bent in the rear... I'll check it today. ) The OME lift has a damaged right rear spring... I think the rear springs alone are only about $150 for the pair, right? The shocks will find their way to SuperDawg, they are awesome... which means I may sell my Rancho 9000s from my J10. The things I need to complete my swap project I can take and replace with cores I have laying around. A/C compressor, fan, shroud, and that's about it... I talked to Mark about using the little wagoneer driveline in the Panel, he pointed out that the 232 in the Panel has less than 30,000 miles on it... good point... And, I've already got a better driveline for my J10 in the '96. That engine has lower miles and more power. The little wagoneer has a new timing chain and seals, but it does have 210,000 miles on it... the '96 only about 108,000.... The Aussie Bull Bar will stay here no matter what. Once it's determined we're not getting another XJ it'll be for sale. The IPF lights will find their way to my other vehicles. :) You know what gets me is that I had already mailed the check for the Euro lights for my 300SD... I could have taken the IPF lights and put them on my Benz... oh well... the euro lights will look so much better. Anybody up in the Seattle area drop on by. I'll be loading metal, old parts and what not in my trailer, those items are free for the taking. I'll set up a pallet of parts that will be for sale. Have Benz, XJ and FSJ parts. I'll be working on my shop all day today and hopefully tomorrow afternoon. Thanx again for all the kind words and thoughts. While I haven't met most of you in person, I still know you're friends. :) I'll be heading to the UNIX Security Conference the 23rd. Anyone in Honolulu or attending the SANS Conference? There is the very real threat of Chinese hacker attacks on our systems. Thankfully I only support UNIX systems and securing them is very manageable.... God help the poor soul that must secure a microsoft operating system... I wish you well my friends... I know some of you were forced to work on that stuff by management trying to save a nickel on hardware... time to talk to them about running Linux... We'll I'm gonna get off my soapbox and pick up my toolboxes... seems like they're scattered all over my yard right now... ;) I'm posting this via BCC to the diesel-benz list and the FSJ lists because I know that many of us own more than one kind of rig and I'm looking for ideas on what to do... A cross-carltural sanity check if you know what I mean... ;) Future parts dealing will probably be posted to the xj list exclusively... which reminds me, I have a spare Renix computer that will be for sale too... ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #550 *********************************
