Well, my buyer is on his way here to give my '80 240D a better home... She needs a yard to run in, a decent shop to unwind in at the end of a long day... ;) It's been fun... I'll probably check in on the list now and then. Who knows, maybe I'll rejoin the ranks when the perfect diesel comes along (and I'm in a better financial and geographical situation to support the habit). Happy chug-chug-chugging, in the meantime. Thanks again to all who've helped me out with this car, over the last five years. If it's still a matter up for discussion, I vote to keep the diesel Benz list alive, simply for the quality of advice. (John, I hope you find a willing list-mom to pinch-hit for you in the future!) Have fun, and keep 'em on the road. - - Matt Mason (80' 240D, for the next few hours), Iowa City IA ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 May 2001 11:07:17 -0700 (PDT) From: Jerome Kaidor Subject: The reward ...for our choice in vehicles: I just dropped by the Rotten Robbie's in Santa Clara, CA, and refueled the 300D for $1.60/gallon. Which was FORTY-SEVEN CENTS A GALLON CHEAPER than their cheapest gasoline, at $2.07. - Jerry Kaidor ( jerry-at-tr2.com ) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 19:31:42 +1200 From: "Euan Kennedy" Subject: Re: no power Have you got an automatic aerial which is stuck half-way down? I heard somewhere (perhaps on this newsgroup) that there is a sensor in the aerial mechanism which sends requests for battery power at regular intervals when the aerial gets stuck. Pumps away all night, draining your battery. Hard to imagine that my old 300TD has such a sophisticated excuse for expensive repairs, but who knows? If mine does, yours may too. (already did, easy to do when there are parts laying all over the place... ;) when we get back from Hawaii hopefully the 300SD will be sold and we'll be able to shop for a nice Cherokee... Then the J10 will be together and we'll have two Jeeps. :) his and hers. since I decided not to buy the little wagoneer back (actually the insurance company screwed up but it worked out ok...) it'll be going away on monday, hopefully I'll get the '96 wiring out and send it packing as well... :) before too much longer you'll actually be able to turn around in the driveway here... :) Life will be somewhat simpler... and I might actually get that fence finished and the house painted... :) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 22:55:41 -0700 From: john Subject: free parts I've got a pile of Jeep parts in the trailer and out by the fence up on the hill. Also I have three bikes, scrap metal, computer cases and other "cool" stuff that I've been packing around for years and never used... and there will be more stuff going on the pile... Lots of decent stuff... I have no plans on shipping anything, some of this stuff is very heavy... If you're in the Seattle area drop me a note off the list and we'll plan a time for you to come over and pick through the stuff... I'm getting rid of all my old leaf springs, most glass, body panels and so on... FSJ and XJ stuff, fwiw I have two XJ radiators in the trailer, free... both were working... I actually found my yard... and it needs mowing. ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #559 *********************************
