I'm suprised that MB dealers aren't willing to help you. Back when I owned an '82 Corvette, I sent an email to Chevrolet to ask how many were made with my car's color scheme. Within a few hours they responded with the requested information as well as some interesting statistics on my car that I didn't even ask for. Maybe MB should take a lesson from them. Unfortunately I don't know of any web sites that have the information you're looking for. I'll forward this on to the diesel-benz mailing list with the hopes that someone else may be able to help you. Good luck! I've always been repulsed by them... but in figuring out whether we're going to keep the WJ or not for sure I've been looking at the prices and they are just slightly higher than an XJ Cherokee. I'd like to hear off list from anyone that owns a ZJ GC to see what they're like. Just examining options at this point. There may be a glimmer of hope of keeping this WJ even... we'll see... I redid my server a bit to include some data that I captured on the WJ's, have a new section for them. So I have SJ, XJ and WJ sections, as well as the DieselBenz and some general JEEP stuff. thanx, john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 17:10:39 -0700 From: john Subject: 0 to 60 mph anyone know what the Dodge Durango does 0 to 60 in? 5.2L and 5.9L I'm curious... :) http://www.wagoneers.com/WJ/WJ-acceleration.html thanx john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: 10 Jun 2001 18:52:02 -0700 From: "Mark Fountain" Subject: Re: Electrical System Problems Fixed - 82 300D Jim, Glad to be of some help on the fix of your 240D problem. Yes, electrical system problems can be real headaches, especially the intermittent ones. Many European auto manufacturers have used this exterior element style fuse all the way back to the early VWs with the 6 volt systems - talk about headaches, especially if you live near the beach. It would seem that the use of some other less-corrosive metal besides aluminum for these fuses would be in order. Perhaps there are newer "after market" fuses that would fit as replacements which wouldn't present these corrosion / deterioration problems. I wonder if anyone on the list would know. Happy Benzing! Today I tried to track down what was causing my battery to drain. With fuse #2 out (instrument, hazard, etc)it was still drawing half an amp (with the clock unplugged). I went and unplugged each of the items connected to the fuse and was never really able to find which one might be draining it. I put all back in and the needle stayed on zero. The one thing I did notice was that when I first touched the #2 holder, it surged and came back to zero. Depending on how long I let it sit inbetween, would give a different reading for the peak, but always came back down to zero. (Also tested amp and foglite lines, not drawing when off) Can anyone shed some light on this? I felt kind of unsure about it since the material didn't seem to even be metal, but it seemed to work okay on the passenger side. On the driver side, though, it sounded like it was cracking or something so I stopped. So where ought I place jackstands and/or floor jacks?
