I converted my '83 300SD to r134 last year when I got it. It had a new compressor and hoses, but was empty. I added the r134 compatible oil that is safe to use with R12 type oil, and pressurized it. It worked fine. Come warmer weather it wasn't working and the compressor was making noise. I tested the pressure, it was low. So I added oil and r134... now I'm getting nothing... it's like the compressor is turning but not doing anything... I converted my '81 300D the same way and it's still blowing cold air for the guy... sounds like maybe this compressor was defective or there's something else going on. After Saturday it's not my problem any more, but if I can figure out what's up and fix it all the better. :) thanx, john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Jun 2001 16:24:05 -0700 From: john Subject: looking wife drove the '99 WJ to town. came back and said it's too big, I like the Cherokees better (XJ). So, if you see any fully loaded XJs around let me know off list. We'll go as far as Vancouver BC, south to Portland, OR and east to Spokane... It should have the overhead compass thing... the wife likes, and quite frankly needs, that device. ;) The WJ is doing great. 15.3 mpg towing my trailer and driving around town. Runs superbly. I'm putting it in the shop Wednesday to have the rear end checked out and the climate control. Also getting another key programmed. Bank says the WJ is worth $28,800. It only has 31,000 miles on it. What is amazing is that the same rig on the dealers lot for 2001 is over $42,000!!! I saw one nice 2000 XJ limited with about 16,000 miles on it and the guy wants $25,000 for it! sheesh... the prices are amazing... of course I'm dragged back to reality when I go to the Mercedes dealership and look at what a new Benz costs... :) $42K is a bargain... ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Jun 2001 19:36:50 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: AC & r134 question. I used one of the small cans, that quieted it down and then I added more 134. AC systems will not "over charge" when you add freon from the lowside. But now the compressor operates when a/c is selected, but cold air doesn't happen. I figure the compressor seals went away... john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 11:47:19 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: night vision! new option from DaimlerChrysler... :) http://just-auto.com/news_detail.asp?art=29833&dm=yes ---- john - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** john-at-wagoneers.com via PINE on Linux **** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://junkscience.com ** http://snopes.com ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA ...don't leave life without Jesus, please... - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 22:47:26 -0700 From: john Subject: Re: unimog At 01:06 AM 6/19/01 -0400, John Heflin wrote: >Hey John, still want to buy a unimog? :) > >http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1608299740 wow, I can almost afford this one...
