I zipped down to the Benz dealer in Seattle and swapped in a new injector, then zipped down to Benz Friends for some used parts to fix a few minor things. The new owner takes him away on Saturday. I enjoyed the last ride, would have been nicer had the a/c been working, but I did get a good compressor and trying to get it into my shop for the guy. Turned out #5 injector was the bad one. Finally found it by loosening the injector lines while it was running. john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 20:40:12 -0700 From: john Subject: Dana 44? on the '99 and up WJ with the Quadra-Drive they call the rear axle a Dana 44, but it has an aluminum housing??? And is not compatible with a real Dana 44. (so I've been told). Is there any aftermarket skid plate or truss that can be purchased to help strengthen this thing so I don't have trouble with it in the future? Are there any factory upgrades or service bulletins out there that fix this problem? You'd think after almost three years of dealing with this issue that they'd figure something out... Looks like the guy buying my '83 300SD isn't bringing his Grand Wagoneer to give me after all... :( It's running even worse than ever... In the grand scheme of things this is probably a good thing... well, at least from the view of my spouse... ;) Let me know on the WJ axle, seemed like there was a number of sources of knowledge on this... I know this isn't the WJ list... because I haven't started one yet... ;) (should I? ;) john - ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #576 *********************************
