Change the oil every 5K, change the tranny and diff every 30K, coolant every
couple of years, if it moves, grease it, if you can't grease it, clean it and inspect at least once a year, and by all means
use an oil that is made for a diesel engine. I use Chevron Delo 400 15-40, I can buy it by the case at Costco, John the
wagoneer uses Amsoil, he's a distributor (?). If you have to add 4 quarts of add oil due to
consumption/leakage/showing off =B-} /all of the above, you can go alittle longer than 5K for the engine oil. I put a lot
of add oil in, so I go 8-10K and get the oil analyzed every year by www.blackstone-labs.com/ .
You could also install a bypass filter, or for the "money is no object when it comes to The SmokeMeister (My car's name
for now, while I'm happy with it!), you could look into an oil spinner http://www.dieselproducts.com/spinner/spinner.html
. The cool part about many oils spinners is the whirring sound they make when you shut off the motor. Tell people that
ask you or look at your car funny when it makes the noise that the sound is the reactor shutting down.
Last, but certainly _not_ least: If you have a turbo, wait at least 1 full minute before shutting down the motor, or drive
_very_slowly for the last mile or two of your trip. If you just came off the freeway or highway or just pulled a hill, wait
even longer, maybe even two minutes. This allows the oil to cool the turbo bearing. I used to drive a big truck that had
a mechanical timer on the dash that you could sett from 5-15 minutes, shut the key off and remove it, and walk away.
The engine would shut off after the set eime was reached. This could probably be done fairly easily electrnically if you
have the know how, which I don't. There's goes another great idea to get rich from. Remember who told you, won't
you please?
Diesel Dan, your "Hey dude. I'll bet thats not real oil you got in that there diesel MBZ!" man in Vancouver, USA, home
until Friday, maybe Monday, I'll decide on Thursday!
