Point me in the direction of a set of these lights! > Under a hundred bucks?!?!? If you have a local shop that sells parts for off road vehicles or motorcycles they should carry them. They can only be legally used on motorcycles, off road vehicles or in the Pacific Northwest. However, as Alec will attest, no one cares! I have been using them about a week now and have never had a car flash their brights at me when the low beams have been on. The high beams are a different story... I have had several local constables of the law pass me and they never batted an eyelash. With all the new high powered lighting out there, these Hella's look ho-hum to the oncoming traffic. I bought the Hella's at a local off road supply house and paid $53.95 each, for a total of $116.98, including tax. If I'd known about these lights when I bought the car, I would have put them on within the first week! Look for Hella part number HLA 70476. The box contains the lense, bulb and rubber boot. Installing them is just about like changing headlamp bulbs. You will have to re-aim the lights. Instructions are in the box. If the instructions are confusing, they are in meters and centimeters, go to Daniel Sterns' website: http://lighting.mbz.org/tech/how_to/aim/ If that fails you, Alec, John or I can help. After you read the instructions, both Alec and I have our lights adjusted about 1 to 1 1/2 inch below horizontal, versus the 3 inches that are recommended. That won't make any sense yet, but will once you get into it. What do I think of these Hella's? I drive 100 miles a day, round trip. Half of it is at night. The Hella's are GREAT! If I seldom drove at night, the Sylvania Xtravision halogens, at around $13 each, would be just fine at about 1/4 the cost. Even then, if I was uncomfortable driving my W123 at night, the Hella's would be more than acceptable, cost wise, compared to the several hundred dollars it costs to upgrade to the newest lighting technology. How do they compare with the Xtravision lamps? The Xtravison lamps are MUCH brighter than standard halogens. With that in mind, with the Xtravision's, my low beams shined about 30-40 feet down the road with good light but some dark spots close to the car. The high beams were good for 400-500 feet. With the Hella's, the low beams extend to around 75 feet with a LOT of light on the road and no black spots. Due to the way the low beams are focused, the shoulders are lit up. Street signs can be read without coming to a stop... The high beams are nothing short of spectacular! The roadway is lit up 1/4 to 1/3 mile ahead. The high beams will force even the big pickup drivers to flash their brights, something the standard halogens weren't capable of. I LOVE 'em!
