Looks like I'll be teaching a HP-UX class in Newport Beach, CA next week. Wife is coming with so prolonged vehicle inspections would be frowned upon. :) Let me know if there are any good eateries in the area. I haven't been there since the mid '80's, but this place was there in the late '60's, look up "The Crab Shack" or "The Crab Cooker". It's on the main road going into Newport Island. As you get into Newport Island, it's on the left. It looks like one of the sets out of "Jaws".... They offer flame broiled seafood. The building looks like it's about to fall down. All the tables are different..it's not fancy. The food is excellent! I don't think I've had better seafood. If they are still there, give 'em a try. You won't be sorry! You're making me hungry... I've been trying solve a 'heavy' brake pedal problem and a slow shut down of the motor. I've gone through all the vacuum pipes and connections and other possibilities, but today the heavy pedal is getting worse. If I pump the brakes two or three times on the pedal it just stays hard and takes ages to become 'soft' again. Also if I disconnect the brake servo and plug the pipe, the vacuum shut off valve works instantly when I switch the motor off. It seems at this that the problem is the power brake booster or 'brake servo' as we say in Europe. I'm going to try changing it this weekend with one that I know is good so we'll see. I'll keep you all posted and if you have any tips? Please let me know. As a young guy, I rate very highly the experience of those who have gone before. The alternator that was in it at the time of purchase was bad or died shortly after I purchased it. I replaced it with a lifetime warranty rebuilt unit from a chain called Shucks. The first rebuilt unit lasted about two weeks, the next one lasted about a year and is now dead. Because I have a lifetime warranty on these things the store just keeps replacing them, but it is a bit of a nuisance to do. Is there anything I should look into in the car to extend these things lives? I think it is very likely a case of bad rebuilds but I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #657 *********************************
