The mechanic will put it in but against his wishes. This leaves me wondering, I welcome any thoughts on this topic as the work will be done Monday. I intend on keeping the car and would like to do whats best. Thanks in advance. 1980 - 300 TDT 300k kilometers ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2001 14:00:22 -0500 From: "Menefee, Dennis" Subject: RE: Synthetic transmission fluid "Mercedes does not recommend this for the 123 series. The mechanic will put it in but against his wishes" John, He is incorrect. The best thing I did for my 240D was take Dr. Booth's advice and change the fluid to Mobil 1 synthetic! I'd get a different mechanic, his knowledge hasn't advanced since the '70's. Of course they didn't approve synthetic back then, it wasn't made. The '78 "approved" list banned the use of Delvac too. (I have the original "Approved Oils" card). It had the look of the little SL convertable, but a little bigger. Almost as big as a Honda Accord coupe. I'm sure it's way out of my league in the $$ arena, but it sure looked sweet. Any idea what it was? Dear Friends I've recently had a great time running the car but through the last few weeks a small ticking/tapping sound has imerged from around the injectors. Most noticeable when cold but when warm the car has a reduced power delivery. As most annoying things it does it sometimes and sometimes not. Its been awhile since the old injectors were subject to a good purge. So I decided to give it another 'flush' at the weekend. I did the usual and connected a small hose on the pump inlet and the connected the return hose from the top of the fuel filter back to the tin of purge. Then I ran the motor for 15 - 20 mins. Usually this makes a big difference, but this time the difference is hardly noticeable. Valves were adjusted not so long ago. So I'm planning on taking out the injectors. I have already had them to bits and replaced the small copper seals. but - What should I look for in a worn/knackered injector? - What could I replace/fix on the inside? - My mechanic mate is willing to get them tested, what should good injector perform like? Any help would be greatly received.... Matt MB 100 ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #667 *********************************
