Only had one glitch, no oil pressure due to a defective "new" oil pump. I managed to replace it without removing the engine. I am a 2 diesel man again! Ah the smell of diesel fuel in the morning! Smells like victory. I don't recall if they had a special on them a few years ago or bought them from another supplier for me. No luck today. sorry... rusty cullens is the way to go on this one: 1-800-741-5252 - ------------------ fuel: if you have water and other contaminants in your fuel they'll tend to settle to the bottom of the tank... so when you get halfway down it'll get worse. I went to walmart and bought their algae killer or diesel fuel supplement and put it in full strength... changed the filters two or three times, and ended up replacing two or three injectors (the filters on the benz are humble), finally got it all cleared up. When I dropped the screen it was clean... about the only thing that won't pass through that screen (on the 300SD) would be moths, leaves and small children... john - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Dec 2001 21:08:14 -0800 From: john Subject: a trek back east... brrrrrr.... looks like I'll need a winter coat... They're going to rent a Jeep for me since they know I'm kind of partial to them and all... ;) I'm cold just thinking about this. Anyone know how far it is across Pennsylvania? Hello John... I live in Eastern PA and trust me... if the weather stays the way its been, you won't need a coat. I think it's like 63 degrees today! Has been like this for a while. Scranton is about 25 - 30 minutes north of 80, I think you can take 80 to 81 North. Driving across PA on route 80 from west (Ohio border) to east (NJ border) is exactly 310 miles. I had this problem with Volvo a wee while back. If you run it half full and then remove the fuel filler cap, does the idle speed change or run more smoothly? If this is the case then as the fuel level is dropping there is no air being drawn into the tank, is the breather tube blocked?
