It means that the transfer case is mounted separatly from the transmission and connected to it with a drive shaft. This is like the Pre 1967 GMC and Chevy trucks. Yeah, I know what it "means"... it's what it "means" that was exciting... rofl... the fact that it's a divorced mount will allow me to swap in a different trans/engine combo so I can get my AT and turbo Diesel... and keep it Benz... If I'd put a smiley face after what I said it'd been clearer... :) fwiw, some of the early fords were divorced as well, and many of the japanese imports. If it weren't so much money I think I'd be more interested in it... later, john At 09:38 PM 7/4/2002 -0700, Lee or RK Rossi wrote: >It means that the transfer case is mounted separatly from the >transmission and connected to it with a drive shaft. Yes it sure makes it easier to do swap-outs. I just picked up a 1960 GMC 4x4 because the divorced transfer case will make it easy to put in a 3-53 Detroit. I'm also going to sell my 280Z and would consider trading it for an XJ as well. My son would like to get an XJ with a Diesel (so would I ;). I'd like one with a 2.5L and an AT for commuting; I think he'd be happier with a 4.0L. This will leave him with the '83 Ranger Diesel and an XJ. It'll leave me with the my J10, hopefully soon, and the wife's WJ. Parking will be much better when all this happens... ;) The Fairlane has a low mileage 289/C4, edelbrock manifold/holley, electronic ignition, jacobs wires, flowmaster... straight body, some floorpan rust, needs paint... asking $1,700 obo and may put it on ebay... willing to consider offers... http://www.wagoneers.com/ebay/fairlane/all-67-fairlane.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/ebay/fairlane/ http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/ALL-67-fairlane-feb-1-2002.jpg The '77 Cherokee has a 360v8 with an offenhauser manifold, new edelbrock 1406 carb, turbo muffler(new exhaust), straight body, Michelin 31x10.5's, T-18 4speed with granny low, rear tire carrier, needs d20 shifter fixed, one shock tower stud is broken, otherwise in excellent condition, $2,700 obo This is a pretty nice rig, still needs some TLC of course... http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/johns-77-cherokee/Dec27-2001/ALL-jeeps-dec27-2001.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/johns-77-cherokee/ The '76 Datsun 280Z is getting fully detailed/repaired this weekend, new rims, cleaned in/out, window getting fixed, new air flow sensor, etc... we'll see how good it looks if the $2,950 I'd like to get for it after it's all done... It has an AT. This is a temporary rig until my J10 is done. It's not going to stay with the fleet. http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/280Z/ALL-280z.jpg http://www.wagoneers.com/tmp/280Z/ email me at john-at-wagoneers.com would probably be a good idea not to reply to the list... :) john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 02:20:25 -0400 From: "Phil Tigue" Subject: hydraulic oil Hi, My mb 300td has a very bouncy ride, I was looking in the manual and it says to fill the reservoir for the auto leveling suspension system with hydraulic oil. Could they mean hydraulic fluid? And could I use general hydraulic fluid or does it have to be special mb fluid? I hope you know what I am talking about.
