It really is amazing what will cause someone to lose faith in a car. Then again I lost faith in my motorhome and was going to sell it for quite some time... until I realized I had just run it out of gas :) > I bought her an 87 Saab 9000 Turbo, which she loves, & then I replaced the > water pump on the MB. (Wife: "Good thing this one isn't still spewing green > stuff. Did that clattering get louder of did I just get used to the Saab?) heh. I had to lend a car to my mother a while back while her car was in the shop. Unfortunately she doesn't like big cars, so she was stuck with the 1974 hornet wagon. She had one before, so that wasn't a problem, but she called me from work to tell me how embarrased she was driving it, because it shook at idle. All new *pre-loaded* calipers, new rotors, new master cylinder. To be fair, it's really not wise to judge Volvo engineering and craftsmanship by the S70. The old 240 series were EXTREMELY tough cars. A friend of mine put over 500,000 miles on his. It was an oddball model, but shared a LOT of parts with the 240's. Even stuff you would expect not to be shared, like cosmetic interior parts. I was impressed by Volvo's engineering.
