(and all), Your post got my curiosity up, so I went hunting for diesel MB minivans... check out the MB New Zealand site. http://www.mercedes-benz.co.nz/mercedes-benz/lcv/ Hmm... I wonder what's kept the MB100/140 and Vito models out of the US minivan market? The so-called "soccer mom" crowd certainly has taken to the M-Class SUVs, and call me weird (and I know you will), but I could see myself having a lot of fun with an MB140. 2.9 liter diesel? Heaven, compared to my dear-departed '80 240D. Another diesel someday, I can hope... Well, not departed... Stu A. in Texas, if you're out there, how's she running? :) Matt Mason Grayslake, IL former owner '80, '82 240Ds (still got a couple of cruise amps, if anyone's interested) ;) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Feb 2003 13:00:37 +1000 From: Guy Carpenter Subject: Re: Vote on the color A color only it's mother could love. ...bet I know why the paint is in such good condition; the owner kept the car in the garage and out of sight as much as possible to avoid embarrassment. They are a little cheaper than an equivalent diesel Toyota Hiace (the standard for light commercial vans in these parts). A local nursery owner commented that his (1+ year old?) MB has been in the shop a lot - didn't hear why. At 08:37 PM 5/02/2003 -0600, Matthew J Mason wrote: >Matt K. I say this of course after smashing a perfectly good bathroom full of Avocado Green tiles and replacing them with white. I generally stick to "timeless colors" Black, Blue, Red, White, Silver as a color my be "in and cool" now who know's its fate in a few years. I don't regret smashing my tiles nor tearing down the wood paneling that went with the whole "brady bunch" package on my house. The car is nice and the color is fine. If you like the car buy it and if you get tired of the color have it painted. I have considered looking for one of those brown/gold/off white colored SL's for a steal with a bad paint job and having it redone in an obsidian black you could dive into.... R.
