Interesting. Heh except 100LL is more expensive. And smells a lot different. I have read the POH for the Cessna 150 and it indicates you can run regular automotive fuel in it. Runs terribly from what I hear though. 100LL is quite different from regular gasoline in my observations. It evaporates quicker and does not leave a foul odor behind (than goodness because one of my flight jackets got pretty drenched in 100LL when I was dealing with a leaking wing tank check valve during a preflight ) I would not suggest putting Jet A in your car unless you have a diesel. They unpacked the crate, and did a quick match up for fit. The new fender was perfect....except that it was 1" too short. I guess they were a little "short" on material at the factory that day. (diesel benz content) the two W123s parked outside are starting to reappear from under the snow. it'll be a few weeks before we can consider actually trying to start them, though. richard - -- Richard Welty rwelty-at-suespammers.org Averill Park Networking rwelty-at-averillpark.net Unix, Linux, IP Network Engineering, Security rwelty-at-krusty-motorsports.com 518-573-7592 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Mar 2003 09:17:41 -0500 From: Robert Chase Subject: w140 quandry Ok so I test drove the w140 I was considering several months ago but it had some "issues" that bothered me and I never got it but I still seem to be obsessed with the cars. I notice the Early Gas models of these have 2 bodies the the SEL and the SE. Im wondering if there is a short body diesel? The Diesel i was looking at was a long body and was listed as an SD not an SDL. I notice the short bodies are a deal in the gas models. Im really glad I drove the w-140 here are some things I noticed - -Vaccum door Closing mechanism does not matter if your used to slamming doors (my 126 doors are heavy and often dont close right) - -The car turns on a dime. A huge sedan that maneuvers like a Honda. Amazing. - -Suspension and Steering were "dead" feeling. (probably great on the highway) but very un mercedes like - -New diesel engine does not sound diesel like at all. Very quiet. - -Hood is very low and one cant see the pointed star. - -Seats are VERY comfy. Ultimately the one I drove had the following issues. - -top dollar price - -flakey door vacuum closing mechanism (worked sometimes and not others when I "tested" it) - -burned out dash lights - -newer Mercedes Radio that did not "match" perfectly color wise to the rest of the instruments (ok I could put up with it but Im a little anal sometimes) - -brake pedal sank to the floor slowly at traffic lights. - -dented passengers side door - -Silver color was not the same as the newer silver and looked "smokey". I planned on swapping the front markers and wheels to "update" the look but the color was a definate give away. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Mar 2003 09:24:31 -0500 From: Robert Chase Subject: 200 series diesels? Assuming that the alternator is OK, what could the problem be? The rebuild man says to check at the plug for voltage when it's off, and at a different spot on the plug for voltage when the key is turned on. Any idea what to do if one of those conditions aren't met, i.e., no voltage at the plug?
