I'm happy with anything over 30mpg though. This is a nice little car, rides nice, handles well and doesn't seem to have all the annoying "features" of previous 123/126 series Diesels. The climate control is well behaved, the cruise seems to be somewhat "normal" and the vacuum system seems "simpler". Of course it's harder to work on being smaller... Besides, where in Seattle can I go fast anyway? ;) If I want to go fast I drive the '99 WJ, 0 to 60 in about 7 seconds, smooth as glass... but it only gets about 15 mpg in town... ;) Diesel on dude... ;) john >--- john wrote: > > At 07:08 PM 4/10/2003 -0700, hue wong wrote: > > >john...Is this the lt brown 190 you picked up for > > >2500? I've been trying to get it tuned right for almost two years. Goes fast and is pretty smooth, but has a slight "jug-jug" at idle. RIght now I'm also replacing the old boy's rear diff. Started getting a grinding noise. Now I'm trying to find parts for old boy, which is proving harder then I thought. I do miss my 300td and am currently looking for a new 240d or 300td in the ealy '80's range, although I have my eye on an old '61 200d. I love the old ones, they seems to have much more class then these new ones... Seems to be in pretty good shape, but the lack of parts for these old cars is starting to take it's toll on the fleet! Zoom-zip! P.S. ya fast in seatle! On the second day I had the 280 I got it breifly up to 100mph out by the airport one late lonely night, only to zip by a state patrol man. Cured my speed need about three mnutes, and $480 later ;-) Give me enonnomy any day now! - --- john wrote: > At 09:07 AM 4/11/2003 -0700, hue wong wrote: > >31 mpg? I've heard on pretty good authority the difference amounts to 53mpg and 42mpg in a VW diesel wabbit. Whichever is which, I've consistently gotten 42mpg on my wabbits but NEVER better. This causes me to assume I've never seen "the good stuff".
