Until recently, I was a smoker, but my sister is not. On a recent visit we volunteered some unwanted ground coffee (one of those purchases that turned out to not taste so good once it was brewed), and put it in a resealable plastic container. Left it in the closed car overnight. Next morning, all that remained in the car was a pleasant coffee smell, and it cleared out pretty quickly after a brief drive. If that still doesn't work, the other thing i have run across that will suck the bad smells out of the air is vinegar. Put a little cheap white vinegar in an open container, and leave it in the car overnight. Like the coffee, you may have to just air the car out a little in the morning to clear out any vinegar smell, but you might be surprised at the success of either of these two. My current 89 300CE is that same Garnet Red, and my previous beloved 85 300D was about the same. Good looking color, but it's too close to the maroon of Texas A&M University, the despised and evil rival of my alma mater, the University of Texas. At least the maroon is easier to live with than the UT burnt orange would be. Alec ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 May 2003 12:21:27 -0400 From: "Jim Hoffman" Subject: Removing Oders... Was: 190D economy Eek, Have to agree with John on that one. Although pulling the carpet might stir up the dust more. I would reccomend a big mean shopvac and rubber gloves and a resperator. Perhaps if you have a friend with a jet engine you could pull the doors off one side and park the car next to the engine intake and suck all the debris out and promptly have it incinerated as it passed through the engine :).
