Did the w124 get the 603 engine until the 602 engine was used in 90? Out of curiosity, which is the better engine if one wanted a w124 diesel? True, more power is better, but ? > For 95, the E300 Diesel used the OM606 6 banger with 134hp. I know someone who has one of these. Loves the car. Also has a w123 300D non turbo with original mileage in the high 400k range, and a silver w126 300SD that is in perfect condition. Im on the prowl for one now although I may just end up with a 129 series SL. As much as I would hate to i think I am going to look for the S320 variant rather than the 300SD variant because of engine reliability of the 3.5l engines. Almost every 3.5 that I have seen for sale or test drove had serious engine work done to it. Ill be keeping the 300SD and the Accord is here to stay for a little while until the used car market gets its reality button pressed. So it may end up being the SL because I can justify a convertible more than an additional sedan. I wish they did diesel SL's and perhaps a better job on the w-140's diesel engine. Looks like I may be buying a '91 XJ for my wife and need to sell the '80 300CD and my '87 XJ asap to cover the costs. The body & fender guy is coming over this afternoon and we should have the '80 300CD reassembled. It's a few hours from being driveable. :) I might take it down next weekend to get painted. It's being done right... Not sure what it'll be worth until it's done. I'll take pictures and make a list of the "TLC" issues. It's got 227,400 miles, sunroof, all the windows work, and a 40 GALLON (dual fuel tank) setup!!! It rolls, steers and stops nicely, got to run it down the drive... :) So, if you have something that just can't wait for the digest you can cc me, but I probably won't be checking email during the day... and I know I'll have hundreds of spam to delete... :( My 190D should be done by Tuesday... :) Having the a/c fixed, rear struts installed and everything checked out... :) ttyl, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... "old" one for sale, fleet update... Just bought a '91 Laredo, nice... white... OME lift, very clean, power windows/locks... Selling my '87 Cherokee Pioneer. Gold w/ tan interior. Brushguard, NEW 30x9.5 BFG AT KOs, 3" lift, adjustable track bar, CB setup, new rear main seal, fresh tune, 16 to 17mpg, runs great, 2" receiver hitch, same size 30x9.5" spare even! New muffler. Good brakes. Everything works, even the rear wiper! Pix at: http://wagoneers.com/ebay/87-XJ (some of the '91, the '87 and my son's '89) Researching the price on the '87 Cherokee with 243,000 miles I found the following: Kelly Blue book - $3,980 Edmunds - $2,883 (estimated, they don't go back to '87) NADA - $3,050 That price doesn't reflect the 3" lift, new BFGs, the brushguard, foglights or CB. (EXCELLENT mechanical condition, new rear main, new exhaust, new starter, new shocks/track bar - 3rd owner) A/C is still R12, added a pound and it's working great, just had a 90+ degree day to test it out. :) Based on the numbers above and the extras I've added, I guess a price around $3,000 should be fair. The '87 is clean, runs great, good fuel economy... handles well... I like it... but I got the cleaner, lower mileage unit with power goodies for my wife, it's her Jeep... After SuperDawg is done we'll see if we keep both Jeeps or if she'll be happy with my J10... chances are we'll end up keeping the XJ and the J10 along with the little 190D. :) one FSJ, one XJ and one Diesel-Benz. :) Which reminds me... need to get the '80 300CD put together today as well... need to head back outside and get wrenching. :) status right now is TWO XJ's and TWO Diesel-Benz's... outta control... ;) (not counting my son's XJ and FSJ) I'm not going to have time to read digests, so please email me directly at john-at-wagoneers.com thanx, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold...
