Tools made in USA, etc. And, of course thousands of dollars of Lego models. They have also spent thousands on Lego. For fathers day they did the return for me - a Lego model that they would like - so I sat with the youngest and constructed the red baron for fathers day - and it sits on my desk at work now. I agree with you john, I like being a father for my children and as well a husband for my wife. Perhaps you can do it while installed in car. Remove the brake lines. Replace with hoses that run into the reservoir. Pump brake pedal (slowly) until no bubbles come out of the hoses. Pump a little longer to be sure. Replace brake lines (be quick so not much air enters system). Bleed the brakes. If the Honda has anti-lock brakes, you probably must pressure bleed. Hope that helps, Sam - -----Original Message----- From: owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net [mailto:owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net]On Behalf Of Paul Schwartz Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2003 3:53 PM To: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Subject: Never again Ok, so I needed a new master cylinder in my wife's Honda Civic (87). The pedal was going to the floor and all the pads are good. In hurry I went to the local McParts store and got a rebuilt, put it in and it's still bad. As I remember, there is a valve in the master cylinder that starts leaking and then the pedal starts migrating towards the floor. I installed a rebuilt master cylinder, I bled the brakes and the pedal won't come up. Have I missed something? Could I have gotten a bad master cylinder? I think I am going to get another master cylinder (different store) and if it fixes the problem I will never again buy McParts again, EVER. I know this isn't a MBZ thing, but I know there are a few Honda/Acura owners out there. ( Try to get one that you can slip a hose over the business end ) * Load the oilcan with brake fluid * Connect it to your favorite bleed nipple with a suitable hose, open the nipple, and squirt away. - Jerry Kaidor ( jerry-at-tr2.com ) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 2003 12:26:00 -0600 From: "JC Jones" Subject: RE: oh no im thinking like john :) In my humble opinion, an 86+ w126 would be a much nicer car to own. Wow! I know that this list likes diesel's, so I thought I would let you know what just passed through the shop. How about a 91' 350SDL with only 45K miles showing and NOTHING wrong with the car, except the local dealer left the oil cap off after an oil service and pumped oil all over the hood pad! Oops! They had to buy him a new hood pad and re-polish the engine compartment. This is probably the cleanest example of an SDL that I have ever seen. I was asking the new owner (78 years old) what he paid for the car. I was guessing in the $10-$12,000.00 range. How about $28,000.00!!! I was floored. I could buy 3 or 4 of these for this much. Wow, what some people will pay for a car just blows me away. Think about it, at 45K miles this car has probably had NOTHING done to it yet other than oil changes. He is going to have to pay for all of the failures that we all know are immininent. Kirk A. I agree with the consensus about a bench bleed, but I've had a LOT of problems with hydraulics from chain stores. It's ridiculous how many times I had to replace the master cylinder in the cherokee before I got a good one. Next time I'm rebuilding it myself. FWIW, Rusty does sell asian car parts as well, might want to consider that as a possible alternative. Change the "mbparts" to "asianparts" in the URL.
