I like the brakes on the 190d much better. My 190D has incredible brakes. As far as the handling limits, I got it into a four wheel drift on skyline going through a few of the turns a little hot. Car didn't seem to care, and felt amazingly solid when it wasn't going exactly straight, and this is with KYBs (no, I didn't put them there) and economizer-style goodyear t-metrics. Got better braking performance too. hehe. Actually, the old volvo he had was built when volvo was still turning out the swedish bricks - volvo 240s were amazing automobiles, volvo really could learn a lesson from their own history. I don't know if a 617 would fit, but I'm almost positive a 616 would - and as light as an old 245 was, there really wouldn't be much of a problem - they weighed about as much as a w201 (so the engine from the 240D would probably be fine).
