You might have a worn out bose system but Im not sure they started doing those in 1991. I would avoid the old amp and the old wires. Your going to get better sound if you wire your speakers directly and leave all the old wiring alone. If you run coaxial speaker cables and use the radio's amp and relatively high quality speakers you will have a nice sounding radio. It will also make the job of reversing your handywork easy for a purist like myself. :) Im fine with my Becker because my home stereo costs about 5 or 6 times what my whole car does :) Robert john wrote: > At 05:33 AM 8/29/2003 -0400, Robert Chase wrote: > >> Hmmm, >> >> I think your car is trying to tell you something. :) > > > Robert, this isn't helping... ;) > > BTW, any chance of using the stock amplifier with the > aftermarket radio? There is hope yet.... Yes... I inquired to some of the sellers on ebay when I was looking for a MB CD player for my 300SD. They have wiring diagrams and you may find a radio that is a plug in fit depending on the year of your car. Would save a ton of time just plug it in and go. If you still want to go with your non factory unit I would suggest buying the MB cd player and putting it on the seat of your car and smiling alot when the old becker pops right out of the dash. Then you can quickly throw the old becker in the trash and box up the expensive MB CD player and send it back for a refund. Although Im not sure if I would want my car to hate me ;) Robert. john wrote: > At 05:33 AM 8/29/2003 -0400, Robert Chase wrote: > >> Hmmm, >> >> I think your car is trying to tell you something. :) > > > Robert, this isn't helping... ;) > > BTW, any chance of using the stock amplifier with the > aftermarket radio? In the storage space between the front seats, pull the carpeting away from the front. It is not firmly fastened, just stuffed under the edges of things. With the carpeting in the console pulled back, remove the philips head screw you just exposed. Now lift the whole wood thing (one piece up to the ashtray) from the back slowly, being careful not to flex it too much. You can now reach all the window switches and the fader. It's at least easy enough that you could quickly open it just to look around.
