Hopefully after tomorrow my car will have an entirely different brand of tires on it.... Im over this crapola...... One tire letting loose on the expressway is bad luck.... Two tires is an indication that there is some kind of big quality defect.... Hopefully NTB won't give me any trouble otherwise I won't be buying Michelin tires again and I won't be buying tires from NTB.... We will see tomrrow.... Something else interesting is a rotten egg smell the tires have..... The JVC system is in, the Benz out... done in such a way that it can be reversed... :) Had car toys do the install. spent more on the install then I did on the deck... and they took about three hours... while they were working on it I was working on my laptop. :) Worked on the final exam for this quarter... also loaded the s/w for my new cell phone and kept up with the spam. Sounds great. MP3's work great. Pretty good bass without an amp even... had the door panels jumping around a bit when I cranked it up. doesn't look terrible in the dash, but doesn't look great either, maybe I'll spray paint the trim black... :) I'm ripping 10 of my CDs to MP3 right now on the mac... this little G3 (366Mhz 384M Ram) that I picked up for $100 is awesome. It's like a little swiss army knife... MP3's, sets up the airport base station, secure shell is built in, sweet little system... FWIW, I bought a used CD changer (FM modulated) from a guy, but the 12 cd unit didn't have the fm modulator so I went back and he had a 6 cd unit that did... car toys took one look at it and said the thing was ancient, discouraged me from installing it... called the guy and he's doing to give me my money back. If anyone has a modulator for a Pioneer 12 cd changer I know where you can get a good buy. :) later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... My '97 Dodge Grand Caravan came with Michelin MV4 equivilants. Got 80K miles out of them and they were NOT bald when I replaced them. Replaced them with MV4's at 80K and got 55K out of those before swapping them out to my car trailer and putting new tires on the minivan. The car trailer NEEDED *newer* tires and I don't buy NEW ones for it so figured the Michelins on the car had enough tread left for use on the trailer. I like Michelins.... A job opportunity for anyone who's interested: I have almost 15 years worth of service records for the '82 300CD I purchased six months ago. This is a very fine car mechanically and cosmetically, and I want to do whatever necessary to keep it that way, without getting ripped off simultaneously. I need to understand what has been repaired and replaced on it, and what components will need work to keep my Benz in great shape. My current mechanic is taking a wait and see approach. But I don't want to get stranded again because of a part simply getting brittle and busting, leaving me on the side of the road in the rain (like my radiator did last week), or worse yet, doing severe damage. My mechanic is too busy to go through the paperwork with me. (In April they replaced an instrument cluster that I determined yesterday had been replaced in 2001.True, it was leaking oil onto my pedals, but why, since it was only 2 years old?) I'd like to hire someone experienced with diesel Benzes to look at all these forms and tell me what's been neglected, what may be a source of future trouble, and what should be fine for another 10 years. I can make copies of the records and send them to you via snail-mail. You'd review them thoroughly and make a report, and I'd compensate you for your time and expertise. Any takers? Hey, We give free advice. Its a give and take situation. One day you may have the answer to one of our questons. Why not take some time to assemble a list of stuff post it on here and have multiple opinions given to you for free.... Another idea would be to bring the car to a place that does restorations and have them go over the car. While that may be a bit costly you will get a complete once over and they can do repairs to bring you back up to "like new" condition in no time.
