My experience is that the infernal fisher body causes more problems than the 6.2. The gas engines in those year chevies leave a lot to be desired too. The K30 is on engine number two, but that was due to previous owner abuse - he'd tow 10k on a trailer at 75-80. A governor would have saved the first engine, either that, or an owner with brains. The second engine seems to be holding up fine, just it doesn't get driven a lot, and the injectors could use cleaning/replacement. No, it's not an OM617, but it's not an olds 350 diesel, or the fiat thing they put in the iveco trucks in the eighties either. The cracked hub made me reduce my speed to 50 mph from Mt Shasta to Bremerton. Talk about a long trip home that made. For some reason the turbo gave up the ghost so it was 30 mph up the mountain pass. Semi's were passing me.... ;) I have a few items to work on but I can move the car so there is no pressure. Does anyone know a good paint and body shop in the Puget Sound Area? This one is a keeper, the AC still works. The vacuum system has leaks I need to find. I need to find an instrument cluster. Hey if you have a speedometer and fuel gauge what more do you need right? Right now I have the oil PSI gauge capillary tube jammed into the dipstick hole. :) I need a hood and hinges. I was 4 days behind schedule so I was not able to stop and help Scott with his timing issues. I did have the jig, but not the time. Boy I am so glad I used a lot of bungee to hold down that hood. That wind coming from LA to Sacramento was wicked! The sound of the engine reminds me of my old 220d. Rides more like a luxury car compared to the 190d. I can see driving this one on lazy days and the 190 for general purpose. Well I am beat more to come..... Derick - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Never tore into it to repair so I do not know how involved it is. I know the light duration is not exactly proportional to glow duration. If you do repair it, it would be interesting to know how you did it. Is this relay-controlled? I don't have a shop manual for this car and although I've been driving it now for about 2 years, have not had to do much of anything to it until now. It's really the last annoyance/problem that needs addressing other than the pesky wet floorboards after heavy rain. I put new tires on the car today and will get it aligned ASAP, but it's nice to be able to drive again at 60-65 without feeling like the whole world was going to be rattled off the car due to extreme vibration. If the alignment doesn't cure the wear issues, i'll look at the steering box, since the whole front end has been rebuilt.
