Rain tested in the great Pacific Northwest.... Installed them this afternoon, just got home... before in the rain I'd need the fog lights to see the road and shoulder... now the foglights only make a slight difference. Got 'em at schucks, list price $49.98 for a pair of 'em... Nice white light... 1/10th of the cost of euro lights... works for me... thanx for the feedback on the lists about the silverstars... wouldn't have bought 'em w/o it. john - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------ john at http://wagoneers.com from Snohomish,WA- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... reminding you not to leave life w/o Jesus! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2003 10:53:45 -0800 From: john meister Subject: [db] [MB] Re: silverstars in a 124 you'd need the standard 7" round hi/lo beam 9014 I think... However, I'd recommend getting the IPF H4 conversion Lens for your car, around $60 to $70 for a pair and then the IPF H4 replacement bulbs, recommend the Marine Blue or Magic Green bulbs... superb lighting, excellent quality lens. I don't have that option on my '91 300d because they have a headlight assy instead of the standard DOT type lamps... If I go to the Euro lights I'll use the IPF bulbs. So, rather then spend $70 for a pair of the Silverstar sealed beams I'd go for the IPF replacements. The quality of the IPF is far superior to either the Hella or Bosch (Candella) H4 replacements. A little harder to find, but worth the trouble. I have a pair of the H4 IPF replacement rectangular units on my J10 Jeep and Cherokees... I had a pair of the round ones on my '81 300d. ARB-USA imports them... Lots of 4x4 shops carry the IPF brand... http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/Headlight-Replacement/H4.html http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/IPF-replacement-HEADLIGHTS.html this is what you want for your 300d: http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/IPF-ROUND-H4/ http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/IPF-replacement-ROUND.html http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/IPF-ROUND-H4/P7240030.JPG http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/IPF/IPF-ROUND-H4/P7240034.JPG john >Message: 11 >Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2003 06:11:51 -0800 (PST) >From: Mike Mangrum >Subject: [MB] Re: silverstars in a 124 > >I went to the Sylvania Web site to look up bulbs for my 82 300D. Cranked up the car, noted that one headlight was inop. Fumbled around the dark trying to "spin" fuses to get it back on line. No luck. Remembered I had a can of Caig "Deoxit D5" in the car. The Caig stuff has a distinct "snake oil" flavor to their marketing: "Aligns the atoms in the metal to conduct electricity" ... Yeah, RIGHT. Anyway, I sprayed one gentle puff of the stuff in the general direction of the fuse box - in the dark, AND THE ERRANT HEADLIGHT IMMEDIATELY CAME ON. No flickering, either.
