Walter ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Dec 2003 19:11:17 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] selling my '91 300d I've decided to sell the 300d. It's a great car, excellent condition... beautiful... but it's just not me... :) I got a Jeep book for Christmas... I prefer a Jeep, I can take one apart and put it back together, parts can be fabricated from paper clips, duct tape and chewing gum and not detract from the appearance, utility or value. (I'm not talking about the bobtail Jeeps, rather the XJ, SJ and WJ models... ;) My '87 XJ (cherokee) has 247,000 miles on the original engine/trans and is going strong. This 300d "only" has 180,000 miles... lots of life left, but I need to sell this thing before I break anything else... :) The ASD isn't fixed yet, decided to pull the bulb and wait for a manual I bought to show up. Also put out a message for a mechanic friend to help me troubleshoot it. I'm sure it's something simple and not a big deal, like traction control on a 2.5L Diesel is really needed... :) The only other thing wrong with it is the aux water pump, will order the part and either install or give the part with the car. Here's all the details: http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/91-300d/ I'm asking $8,400. The car is in superb overall condition. This price is the Kelly Blue Book retail price: http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.urr?kbb.WA;221831;WA061&98203;lux&40;Mercedes-Benz;1991%20300D&13;MB;B3& It has brand new tires, I fixed the injection pump pressure valve seals and installed a JVC cd/mp3 deck - still have the original stereo so the car is all original. :) Have the original warranty book, owners' manual, lots of the original receipts and ran a carfax on it that gave less information then I already had from the previous owner. It has AMSOIL 15w40 Marine Grade Synthetic Diesel in it now. Getting around 30mpg; lowest 26.5mpg, best almost 32mpg I like this car, but this will most likely be my last Mercedes. However, I will probably be looking for a Mercedes turbo Diesel to reengine my '87 Cherokee. I love the engines but it's the climate control and central locking systems and cruise control and so on that drive me buggy. If only Rube Goldberg hadn't been on the design team... :) The 124 is a superb chassis, very impressed by it... looking at the pictures and driving the car makes it hard to do this... and hey, if it doesn't sell, I'll just have to "suffer"... ;) later, john email john-at-wagoneers.com for questions ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/91-300d/ ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1324 **********************************
