We live with rust - it's a fact of life. :) Ya get a MIG welder and some old body panels. A little tiger hair and a shot of primer and you're good to go. And you're never alone - looks of cars around here have that patchwork quilt look. LOL. I've bought Benzes from CT before - rust is usually superficial. As long as the rockers are solid, it should be OK. The interior looks pretty ratty, though. Was the water tap a factory option? I bought an aftermarket aux pump from a reputable vendor and it toasted a good climate control computer... I think I have most of the burnt electronics/smoke smell out of my car now... The vendor says he's never heard of anything happening like this before, but the system was working perfectly. The new aux pump did make more noise then I thought it should, but after a while didn't notice it any more. Had driven the car on a long trip and around the area for weeks before this happened... I guess the moral of the story is use original benz parts... thought I had saved $40, turns out it cost me closer to $340. Any ideas on what a parts supplier's liability is in a case like this? I replaced a part and it toasted another part... john - -- ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- * john-at-wagoneers.com * Snohomish, WA USA - http://wagoneers.com where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. ** trust Jesus ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- win, mac & linux: http://www.mozilla.org/ the new alternatives - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1389 **********************************
