It probably involves new lug bolts that are pressed in to the brake drum/rotor. Of course the proper way would be to get an axle from a real F-350 that has duallies... but I would think there isn't much difference... so an adapter might be enough... I thought about doing this to a Wagoneer once for better floatation on mud... :) john On Tue, 4 May 2004, Jim Hoffman wrote: >-->Hi Folks! >--> >--> I have a utility box that I'd like to put on my Ford F-350 in >-->place of the standard 8ft box. JC Jipme has these cheap looking extensions for $359!! I would think that I could pick up a complete dually axle with rims for that in a junk yard! I'll investigate that ;) Thanks! Or you could just not have your rims match, which makes carrying a spare a pain in the butt. But it's your call. :) J.B. At 03:30 PM 5/4/2004 -0400, you wrote: >OK... For what it's worth, Ford used a corporate axle for SRW, and a Dana for duallies. The fronts are also different, as JB suggested. IIRC, there's a difference in GVW, so the brakes might be bigger as well. You are going to load up that box, you will need the weight carrying capacity and stability of the wider track. I will be in Wauwatosa June 14 thru 19 visiting family. Maybe touch base then? It will need some attention, but runs great and was cleaned up nicely last year. It's solid. Original manuals included, only two owners, originally from Oklahoma. The driver's seat is a little worn. I can put more pictures up on my server if you're interested. This is a great deal, serious. email me at UnixMeister-at-comcast.net My neighbor wants $2,500 for it. Nice car with lots of potential. I can see it from my house, it's just sitting there screaming buy me, buy me, drive me... can't you hear it? :) You could realistically drive this thing across the country as is, HOWEVER, new tires, hoses, belts, water pump and fluid changes would be highly recommended. :) These beasts get around 18 mpg on the interstate...
