Heh heh, Ironically My experience with Rusty was the same. I ordered parts that were supposed to be "overnighted" that were delayed (he drop ships from his resale warehouse) and he failed to accept any responsibility for the delays. Actually not even an "im sorry" which would have been much better than a "its not my fault". When my parts had not arrived I spent a bit of time playing phone/email tag to get the "its not my fault" answer. :( Robert Chase john meister wrote: > Rusty is > Wholesale Parts, Inc. - Atlanta, Georgia, Rusty Cullen > 1-800-741-5252 ZAC3-at-BELLSOUTH.NET > (tell 'em john from meister distribution & services sent you...) > > > http://www.wagoneers.com/DieselBenz/PARTS-SVC/parts-sources.html > > I've tried the other guy, very nice, but he didn't ship stuff when he > said he was going to, and his aftermarket aux water pump burned up > my a/c computer... :( nice guy, but I'll stick with Rusty or > the dealer from now on... > > john > > > Jim Hoffman wrote: > >> <...> Again, you need the old key to get >> >>> old tumbler out. I think that the car may have been sitting for a while... it behaves like it... sunroof didn't open, didn't really force the issue seeing as where we live having an open sunroof is NOT really a good option. ;) Brakes worked great, car handled well... nice feel to it... Im sure Rusty is a nice guy. My order was a first time order and his attitude toward the problem was my main beef. With "The Benz Store" here in town having a place I can walk up to and buy any part I need or want with friendly service. Ken the owner is a really super nice guy and even installed the grille star on my car just because I asked how it was done. Rusty's prices are not "that great" and in a lot of cases I can get the parts I need cheaper because shipping is not a factor added into the price of a part. Ken mainly does walk in business but he does have a website as well. Not quite as as advanced as Rustys but he does have one major advantage that he sells used parts as well. For interior parts this is great as brand new parts are not only 3-4 times more expensive but are brand new and stand out against an interior that has seen 10-20 years of sunlight. http://benz-store.com/ Robert Chase john meister wrote: > actually the problem I had with randy is I paid for expedited > shipping to get the part up the coast ASAP and he didn't > ship it until many days later... he did have some problems > on his end, health or family related... but he still charged > me the increased rate and it wasn't until I called that he > shipped the parts... almost a week late... Hello, One thing I like about Randy is he has never gotten a part order wrong for me. I have never received a cheap Taiwan substitute, always quality euro parts. He takes the time to make sure he knows what your talking about. Shipping does take a little longer, but if I NEED IT NOW I will go to a local vendor. He has given me great service.Randy has gone the extra mile for me on several parts that were less than 5$. Rusty is a good ole guy too. I love the web store front he has. I order stuff there and have it sent to my father in NY because it is closer. Never had a problem with Rusty and will use his services again, no doubt. One final source I use is importpartsauthority.com the shipping is very quick and prices are reasonable. The web store is simple to use. They have good quality on consumables but it is hit and miss on the rest. I have had good luck with them so far on VW and Mercedes parts. One item I had to return and they were very good about it. Shipping is free above $49.99. Everyone has an off time. I understand John's point of view and would have reacted the same way. I just thought I would share my positive dealings with Randy and the others in case someone who has not dealt with them is trying to form an opinion. Heh heh, Whell if Rusty is the more professional out of the two I probably wont try Randy. After my order was missing in shipment for over 2 days he acted like he was doing me a favor tracking it down for me once I was finally able to reach him with multiple phone/email attempts. I decided to give Rusty the benefit of the doubt and tried to order some brake calipers from him and was quoted one price via e-mail and then another when I called him on the phone to place the order. When I questioned the price "oh I gave you the price for the 123 instead of the 126 part". I noticed Rusty's slick front end as well and found this to be a good way to look up parts. Then I started seeing the same interface on a number of other sites. www.mercedessource.com has the same interface as www.buymbparts.com in addition to a number of different parts vendors online. If you look at your shipment boxes closely he is just a "front end" for a parts logistics warehouse. One would think since all of these parts are coming from the same place with their "commision" for selling the part through their reputation or website some of these vendors might be a little more interested in customer service.
