Says it's low on compression on two cylinders, and does not run. Without looking at it, I'd assume the engine is wiped out. The upside is that it is a one owner car, and claims to have a nice clean interior and a nice clean exterior. So, if you've got an OM617 lying around that you're aching to put in a 300CD, check out: http://www.craigslist.org/pen/car/31722205.html Ad says the owner is willing to entertain lower offers. Car seems to be located in Burlingame, roughly 15 miles south of San Francisco in CA. Two ways to find it: - with a mity vac - trial and error while disconnecting and capping lines until you find it. John has a vacuum diagram for a w123 somewhere on his site. I hate tracing down vacuum problems. Good luck. I have seen a few cars with "blown engines" that just needed some neglected service work performed. Just because it does not start and has "low compression" does not mean the engine is toast. Valve adjustment can do wonders for cars with low compression. A lot of people in the open market know little about these cars. Robert Chase Kevin Pekarek wrote: >Saw a 300CD needing work for $900. Hopefully its just a valve adjustment away from being a nice car for someone. Its amazing to me how many idiots with compression testers have signed the death warrants to cars with plenty of life left in them. Then again I wonder how many of them have been crushed due to slipping transmissions that were caused by vacuum leaks. Robert Chase john wrote: >you're thinking what I'm thinking... (If you look at your shipment boxes closely he is just a "front end" for a parts logistics warehouse.) Best prices I have found in the Dallas Area, came from Dallas European. Even the OEM oil filters(MANN) were less than the cheapest ones I could get(STP) at AutoZone($6.00 vs 10.00). Funny thing was while I was waiting for my order, a man came in(wearing an Autozone outfit) and grabbed a bunch of parts(in plain white boxes) and left. Hmmmm. Rusty, The amount of time that you have been doing business means nothing to me at all. I would rather deal with a company that has been in business for 28 days that can respond to customer issues in a timely manner and return phone calls. In a world of choices where there are over 200 vendors that sell the exact same parts you do one has to go that extra mile in order to retain customers. Blaming your vendor is not an acceptable answer to a customer that has a car waiting for parts. Care to clarify that saying to me? Sounds like sarcasm to me. Try locking one door at a time (starting with back doors) and see if one of those let it shut down. At least you will know which door-skin to remove. Finish on drivers door. If it's there, you could have a leak in the vacuum switch itself, in the fuel door or trunk lock diaphragms or in the (color coded) 'open' lines.
