Ground connections completed nothing special there. While in trunk took a look the tail light bulbs and they are all 1156 bulbs, maybe that's why my cruise control isn't working. Took the sunroof switch apart, cleaned with electrical cleaner, sanded the contact points with 400 grit sand paper, reassembled with a little dielectric grease, sunroof now works, Hurray!!! Little by little I am chasing the Gremlins away. Next tasks for Wednesday or Thursday evening: -Take multi-function switch apart and clean contacts, to get high beams to work. - Investigate why I don't have any dash instrument lights. Originally badged Freightliner and sold to Fed Ex and UPS, they now go by the Dodge moniker and carry slight hints of the Dodge family lines in the grille/hood/headlights. Funny thing about the WG designation. Aren't the Austrian-built Jeeps in fact assembled by Steyr-Puch (sp?), the very same firm that assembled the Mercedes Gelaendewagen/G-Class? I also seem to recall that Steyr-Puch assembled some of the first generations of MB 4Matics. And they are now assembling the new BMW X3. This is BMW's first time to have someone else build their cars, and some of the apparently stupid US press has raised the question about whether the outsourced work would be up to BMW standards. I would say the Steyr-Puch folks have quite a solid reputation themselves, and the X3 may not be up to THEIR standards. Keep in mind that I could be wrong about all of this. I haven't had my coffee yet, and I could use some pretty desperately this morning. I would enjoy a CVT with a lower ratio differential. Would hate to muck up the console with extra gear levers. 240Ds may be marginally powered but the cabin is very nice as designed. Possibilities for a CVT are cool. Change the accelerator to a fly-by-wire arrangement with a computer controlling the transmission: Let the computer adjust transmission to maintain RPMs at appropriate power for desired acceleration or, while cruising, at minimum RPM necessary to provide enough power to maintain the desired speed. Having too many gears to shift manually might make it seem more like rowing than driving.
