And that's NOMINAL 28V - it's supplied by a lead-acid battery with exactly 12 cells. So you could call it 24V nominal just as easily. Or 13.8 times 2. OTOH, modern low-gas batteries under charge measure about 14.1V, or if you double the # of cells, 28.2V. My '75 vintage Beechcraft uses a 12V system, AKA 13.8, AKA nominal 14V. It's all the same, determined mostly by battery chemistry and the # of cells. > > If I get some time I'll look into this 42V thing... weird... > *** I bet it has something to do with electric or hybrid cars, which deal with truly massive amounts of electricity. Would you rather source a 50V, 100A SCR, or a 15V,500A one? - Jerry Kaidor ( jerry-at-tr2.com ) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Jul 2004 11:17:08 -0700 From: john meister Subject: [db] interesting web site http://home.comcast.net/~mr.diesel.info/mr.diesel.info.html http://home.comcast.net/~mr.diesel.info/Mr_Diesel_Links.html ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1498 **********************************
