The $125 1982 240D is using water since it overheated so I decided to take Mom's 1982 240D. It made the 40 mile trip without a whimper. I stopped about a mile from the office because the low fuel light came on(wow, it works!), put in $5 and went to the office. Went to get some lunch, car started fine, backed up, went about 10 feet and stopped. I got out and checked the fuel filter, pumped the primer about 10 times and tried to restart. Holding to the floor produces some sputters but still a no start. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated. I thought the same thing. And I know I used the diesel nozzle. ;) I just tried again, stumbles but no start. I should probable find a glass container to see if the water will separate from the fuel. - -----Original Message----- From: john meister [mailto:john-at-wagoneers.com] Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004 1:06 PM To: wblack-at-deltacorp.com Cc: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Subject: Re: [db] no start 240D checked or replaced the filters? since you hit the bottom of the tank you may have clogged it... try swapping 'em out. john wblack-at-deltacorp.com wrote: > I think I've been 'watered'. Being at work I had to be Macgyver. Found a brass plated letter opener and an Ozarka water bottle. Used the letter opener for the hose clamps, drained the fuel into the water bottle. Little black dots appeared. Shook out as much as I could, reconnected everything, used the primer and started cranking. Success! It came to life. I'll try limping it home and changing out the filters tonight. At least I know it runs - nothing major like bad cahin, etc.. Thanks for the tips/tricks.
