I plan to have the filter changed and the fluid flushed and will hopefully then eliminate the overfilling problem. The car is wonderful, but as is hinted at below, it might as well be standing still when you put in next to my M5. However, I am very impressed with the acceleration, smoothness, and low noise from this diesel motor. It is an exceptional car, and is a pleasure to drive. I have long admired these SD cars, and am glad to have one of my own. Thanks again, Anthony Drewitz Date: Thu, 15 Jul 2004 19:26:48 -0500 From: "Alec Cordova" Subject: RE: [db] New to list, new to diesels, newbie question... Sounds about right, although I put mine back in park before checking. Just be sure the tranny is fully warmed up. The number that gets tossed around, and I have absolutely no idea where it came from, is 17 miles. Sounds like your procedure is close enough to cause great concern about the level. Automatic trannies consider having too much fluid to be pretty much just as bad as too little. If you don't want to search eBay for the owner's manual and repair manuals, you can buy them from Mercedes at 1-800-FOR-MERC (I think it's that, not 800-4MERCEDES), or from some of the vendors we mention around here, like Rusty Cullens' www.buymbparts or Randy Steele at epsparts.com, or thebenzbin.com, among others. Congrats on the car. That is a very good year for a very good model. I just hope you didn't come from the BMW "M" world, or even our beloved OM617 turbodiesel engine in your car may be too much of a change. ;-) Happy dieseling, Alec Cordova Taylor, Texas 89 300CE, 172K ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 20:28:12 -0700 From: john meister Subject: Re: [db] Check this out, ok, is this a death wish or a mid life crisis? ;) stick with the Diesels Derick. ;) john (in Redding, CA tonight... location of the most northerly In-n-Out... ;) derick wrote: > I thought my Briggs and Stratton Go Kart was cool.. > > http://www.rocketkart.com/ > > Maybe it could be modified as a JATO unit for our diesels to engage for use > while merging with traffic.... > > :) > > Derick > > > > > --- > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > Version: 6.0.721 / Virus Database: 477 - Release Date: 7/16/2004 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2004 08:42:26 -0400 From: Edward Pomeroy Subject: Re: [db] Check this out, Hope he only runs on straight tracks, no way that thing can take a curve! Hallo, I had a question today I could not answer and I thought I would put it out here. Where in the blazes is the defroster timer module located under the dash? I remember pulling the one out of the 300 I dispatched, but I will be blessed if I can remember where. :) Senior moment? Hope not..... ;) TIA Derick - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
