And I thought I had competition with the diesel pacer wagon for monster garage. Who would have thought he would have left not one, but FOUR vehicles stock now? - Golden Eagle J10 is keeping a jeep drivetrain - Jimmy is keeping the GM diesel - XJ is headed for Arizona untouched, with a jeep drivetrain - the wife's WJ is staying stock (never play with the swmbo's vehicle, she doesn't appreciate that) AND no 300Ds were harmed in the process. (And to keep it that way, nobody better show John's son the link to the picture of the 4x4 S123.) Quentin Tarantino would need more trash talk, swearing, and would need to be so over the top that it was believable. Having met John in person, I don't think the swearing is something he can do. > Either way, it's bound to turn out better than most of the fodder competing > for my 8 bucks these days, it provides more screen time for our beloved > diesel Benzes, and it fits right in with our ongoing supplies of popcorn. > ;-) Heh. Well, there was nothing worth my whatever they charge for movies these days at most of the theatres, except one. One of the theatres in SLO often plays old movies on the big screen. Tuesday evening was the original Pink Panther (from 1963) with Peter Sellers. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while :) For other updates, I almost beat John out by buying a 70 J2000 with a detroit 371 diesel and split four speed dana out of a 73 farm tractor, but the seller ended up being someone I didn't want to do business with. The 190D is safely (?) back in my hands, so things are going pretty well. I own an FSJ and am on his FSJ list. I am looking to buy my first Diesel Benz and have pretty much landed on a 90-93 300D w/ 2.5L Turbo Diesel. I found several on E-bay. One in Houston at EuroCar Motors, one in Miami, FL at Master Cars and one on Auto Trader in Portland at Blizzard Motors. Anyone out there that can test drive and check out any of these for me in the next day or so?? There is a 4x4 Gremlin running around, haven't seen it for a couple of years though. > he would have left not one, but FOUR vehicles stock now? surprised ya didn't I? > - Golden Eagle J10 is keeping a jeep drivetrain yeah, the problem was $ - trying to stuff a $450 radiator/engine oil cooler and trans cooler setup in the J10 was one of the show stoppers... I told him it flexes and clears fine with the 31's. Someone one to "borrow" my Sawzall the week of Sept 28? ;) He's flying in Tues pm then driving down Sun/Mon. > - the wife's WJ is staying stock (never play with the swmbo's vehicle, she > doesn't appreciate that) I think she's overreacting just a wee bit, won't even let me put a wagoneers.com sticker on it... ;) > > AND no 300Ds were harmed in the process. Friends, I had some car troubles yesterday and attempted to use my hazard switch, which I hadn^Rt attempted to use probably for a couple of years. It didn^Rt work, and it used to have a nice distinct click when it did work. I also would like to change out the light bulb for the transmission ^SPRNDL^T shift display, so I was wondering how hard it was to get into that center area. How does one remove the shift handle, as it looks as though the shifter handle would have to come off in order to remove the center console wood panel? All of the other switches work, but is it a big hassle to switch out the hazard switch? Also, while in the shop, the mechanic showed me that I have an oil leak, and it looks as though it is coming out of a tube going down to the oil pan. There is a hose that looks as though it is connected to the turbocharger, and the tube going down to the oil pan looks as though it may have a large rubber O ring attached where it enters into the oil pan. Is this common, and how expensive is this to replace? Is it a DIY type of job, or should I best have the mechanic replace this?
