The car started just fine today after I recharged the battery and it's running well. I'll keep an eye on the filters. While watching the engine run and listening to that magical sound of a diesel, I noticed a fuel leak. There is a somewhat clear line that runs from the fuel filter down to the injection pump. Where it joins the injection pump a hollow bolt is used. At this hollow bolt, fuel is dripping. Can this fuel line be purchased at the online parts places? Being on the east coast, I usually order from Rusty. The bolt is tight. Maybe I just need to replace the seal rings? I have kept used air filters around just for this reason. Remember, dirty air filters filter better than new ones. If you have another car take one of them to a Napa, Schucks etc.. Also when you tighten the next batch do not over do it. I believe the torque spec is 15 ft#'s on these fittings. I am in the middle of unpacking else I would look it up for you. Maybe someone on the list who is not living with stacks of boxes can do so. :) Good luck Derick - -----Original Message----- From: Marc [mailto:marcz-at-pobox.com] Sent: Saturday, October 02, 2004 1:25 PM To: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Subject: [db] Running, leak (was Glow Plug Light, '83 300TD) > The algicide and several sets of filters will solve the problem, though if > the tank is dirty at the bottom (from dead bugs and the like), you > probably > don't want to run it down way low and risk plugging the screen up. Yesterday I watched the second steam and ash cloud blurp out from my office parking lot near the PDX Embassy Suites. I understand there is no way to completely eliminate damage if you drive in it...even if you change oil and filters every 100 mi. I'll check the Chilton manual to see what the torque specs are. They're in a box somewhere. We've recently move also. If we do get dumped with ash, just wait until after a bit of rain and it'll be less of a problem. john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1567 **********************************
